    leaking FNS Plus

Agreed...but still weird the leak moves with the band. It irks me that I don't understand why, but I will get over it eventually :)

    leaking FNS Plus

You would think that. However, I am not sure that was the case. I ended up ordering an entire new filter. Between the cost of the clamp, my manifold being cracked and needing replacement soon, my filter grids probably needing replacement soon, and the uncertainty of what was causing the leak...

    leaking FNS Plus

It looks like the clamp is $160...I'd hate to throw that money away if it is unlikely to solve the problem. I agree there isn't much to go wrong on the clamp. Hopefully some other people will have thoughts.

    leaking FNS Plus

It is in a pretty sunny spot. You seem to be implying that you think it is the vessel itself and not the clamp. Was that your intent?

    leaking FNS Plus

I have an FNS Plus 48, installed in March 2013. Recently, it developed a leak where, or very near to, where the top and bottom meet. I am not sure how to best proceed and am hoping for insight. I've replaced the gasket (lubing it liberally), and it still leaks. I've inspected the band clamp and...

correct gasket for FNS Plus tank

Thanks for all the discussion. It sounds like I need the round o-ring, so the one I have (trapezoidal) won't work. As for the cause of the leak, I do believe that I have the band properly tightened. I've been maintaining this filter since it was installed, so I've opened it and reassembled it...

correct gasket for FNS Plus tank

Thanks for the replies so far. I think you can probably see why I'm confused -- we already have conflicting info on this thread! My filter was installed in 2005. It is definitely an FNS Plus model, the 48 to be specific. I can get pictures of the filter and label later. I "hope" I need a new...

correct gasket for FNS Plus tank

I have found conflicting info on the web, so I am hoping someone here knows for sure -- should the gasket that seals between the top and the bottom of the filter tank on a Pentair FNS Plus be trapezoidal shaped, or round? I've found people selling supposedly the same Pentair part number, with...

    strange possible suction-side leak

So I think the issue is that even after I let a fair amount of water flow from the spa drain to the pump (i.e., pump lid removed, just letting water flow out), there was still quite a bit of air in the piping. I did this again, and after a steady stream of water, a bunch of air came out. I...

    strange possible suction-side leak

I ran into a weird situation I'm hoping for some help on. This morning I turned my pool on to spa mode and ignored it for about 20 minutes. When I returned, the spa was completely empty and the pump was running dry. I then noticed that the return valve was still set to split the return water...

AquaRite doesn't get power unless I push on control panel

I removed and replaced it, and so far it seems to be working OK. I will continue to monitor it. Thanks!

    replacing flange on Pentair Whisperflo

I understand, but I assume the flange will only be about $70 whereas replacing the near-new motor would be > $400. It seems the flanges are sold separately, but I am not sure which one I need.

AquaRite doesn't get power unless I push on control panel

I came home from vacation to find an algae infested pool. It turns out my SWG wasn't powering up (no lights on the display). If I push on the protective panel inside the box, it powers on and seems to work just fine. I removed the panel assuming I'd find an obviously lose connector or something...

    replacing flange on Pentair Whisperflo

mas, thanks for the link, but that doesn't show replacement of the flange on the motor. I'm good with replacing the seal plate, it is the flange on the motor itself that is giving me trouble.

    replacing flange on Pentair Whisperflo

I have a Whisperflo pump that needs to have the flange replaced as it (and the seal plate) is damaged. Based on a Pentair exploded parts diagram, I ordered part SAW-49, which is also known as 601400. However, this is apparently not the right part. While the dimensions where it meets the flange...

WhisperFlo won't start when diffuser assembly is installed

Reviving this old thread b/c I am having the exact same issue again, just 2 years later. Is that normal??? Is there anything that can be done to prevent the seal plate from eroding? Would running the pump more often help?

    pump killing relays

Relay is still going strong. Weird. Thanks everyone for the help!

    pump killing relays

Thanks, that is helpful, and much more clear than the spec sheet I was looking at (https://www.omron.com/ecb/products/pdf/en-g7l.pdf) The number printed on the relay and the box don't include anything after the "CB", but I obviously agree that there are multiple variants.

    pump killing relays

Both the original and replacement relays have the same part number, G7L-2A-BUBJ-CB, but the original says "Coil: 24VDC" under the part number, but the new units say "Coil: 200-240VAC". It sounds like the control voltage is different for the two, doesn't it? When I put a multimeter on the...

    pump killing relays

It's an Intellitouch i9+3. I am just not noticing that I have the wrong relays...these are 200-240VAC, and they should be 24VDC...so that explains why the new relays don't work! Still not sure why I saw that one relay clicking before stayed closed with one control circuit but not the other...

    pump killing relays

Well, the plot thickens. I bought 4 relays, to replace the 2 i cannibalized for the pump and 2 more to have as spares. None of them will turn on using the 2 circuits that I stole the relays from, nor from an existing working circuit. But here's the interesting thing...if I put the lines from one...

The latest relay survived another week. Maybe I really did just get unlucky 2 weeks in a row.

    pump killing relays

I have traced everything back to the main panel as best as I can without removing wires from the tubing. All appears well. Nothing new in the house, and no known construction nearby. I'm not even sure where the nearest industrial area is...at least 10 miles away, I'd say. Relay is rates at 25A...

    pump killing relays

Nothing that I can identify. I live in a very residential neighborhood, but I suppose anything is possible. - - - Updated - - - fwiw, I ran the pump about 15 hours straight with no problems, and then it shut off fine. I turned it back on a few minutes later, and I'm hoping for the best, but...

    pump killing relays

I haven't had any issues with other equipment, pool related or otherwise. The electric company did replace my electric meter a few weeks ago. I suppose that could be related, but it seems unlikely. No big equipment, and nothing at all changed in the environment for many months, other than the...

    pump killing relays

It does seem to start just fine, and i think the shaft turns easily. I've also checked the temperature with an IR thermometer, hottest spot is ~85F, which I'd imagine is fine. (ambient temp is ~65F)

    pump killing relays

Yeah, my bad...that was a line to ground measurement. Line to line is 245.6 volts. (probably OBE now, but wires are 2 black and 1 green). Is 245V within range?

    pump killing relays

Right idea, but let me clarify some details. The contacts in the first relay I had the issue with appear to be melted together. I haven't removed the second relay yet but I strongly suspect I will find the same thing. I say that because my relays have a little test button sticking out of the...

    pump killing relays

Checked the voltage and amperage -- 123.8 volts and 6.92-6.97 amps. Seems correct and in range, yes?

    pump killing relays

Contacts appear to be melted together. I am about to go check the volts and amps. The pump is Pentair model 196234, I believe it is 1.5HP but neither that nor the SF is listed on the label. Amperage is indicated as 9.6-8.8. It doesn't seem to be noisy or hot.
