    Is this calcium scale?

Good read. I believe the issue closely resembles calcium nodules. The resurfacing was done over marcite around 2012. There was concern about the prep work before the pebble was applied. I guess I'll just keep brushing it off. One 2"x2" area the plaster came off and the edges now grow. Thanks...

    Is this calcium scale?

I have these build ups. If I address them promptly, they are soft and easily brush away. If I wait, they harden and require a stone rubbing. Some are pebble like, others are streaks. All no matter when I address them, they leave the surface smooth and white where the blemish was. They tend to...

    Huge TA and CH swing

Humbly I bow and shake my head. I swapped the test cylinders. After a ride up to P-A-P, their results were close to my usual results. When I got home I tested again, and as soon as I got the kit out, I realized my mistake. Their CYA was 90, we never agree on that. Please moderator, feel free to...

    Huge TA and CH swing

I called the local P-A-P, all their pools samples are indicating low TA. Their data shows recent rain is acidic.

    Huge TA and CH swing

I've been using the TFP app for a few years. My TA, once I quit chasing, has been steady 80 for months. The CH has been steadily dropping to 350 for even longer. The PH hardly moves, I add 1/2 cup acid once a week and maintain 7.8. (Keeping 7.8, not lower, is what I attribute to the TA...

Squeeze more life from my SWG cell

Thanks, I'll be getting a new cell sooner than later. I am hoping the tropical storm will drop enough rain to bring the salt level down.

    AA the second time

It's been two weeks and the pool looks great! I'm still having to supplement liquid chlorine but only a cup yesterday. The pool chemistry is in the recommended range. I had reason to visit the pool store, so I took a sample. There results were different but primarily I wanted to know about the...

    AA the second time

As I've read, yes. The purple stuff bonds with the iron and keeps the iron off of surfaces. The SC 1000 is a chelant and also bonds with iron. The difference, as I understand, is the sequestration creates a larger bond than the SC 1000 and will filter out. There are many posts from members way...

    AA the second time

It's been a week and a half. The result is great but not what I expected. First - for all of the past year my choice of metal control was Orenda SC 1000, this year I am going to use The Purple Stuff. Second - The Purple Stuff costs more; maintenance doses are higher and there is the (dreaded)...

    AA the second time

It's been just over a year since "My Iron Stain Removal" thread. Since I have well water, I have staining again. The noticeable staining is really only on the drain covers. I removed them once and cleaned them with muriatic acid and looked good for a while, but the staining gradually returns...

    Upgrade motor or motor/pump?

WREC is 11.4 cents per kw. Noise is not a consideration, pump is 30 feet away inside a building. No response on whether or not my 1995 sta-rite dura glass is any less efficient than the newer pumps. So I'll assume that is a wash. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
