    Upgrade motor or motor/pump?

WREC is 11.4 cents per kw. Noise is not a consideration, pump is 30 feet away inside a building. No response on whether or not my 1995 sta-rite dura glass is any less efficient than the newer pumps. So I'll assume that is a wash. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

    Upgrade motor or motor/pump?

I have a Sta-Rite Dura Glass 1hp (220v) that has been turning since 1995. The motor has been replaced once along with seals and O-ring when needed. The pump is indoor so not exposed to the elements. The motor is running fine. Has pump technology/efficiency improved enough to justify replacing...

PH 8.0 - OK if CSI Good?

Sorry, my weekly test is the DPD powder and the R-0871 drops. My daily comparator block is what is off the scale, so that makes me wonder if the pH comparator is off as well. My FC is 5.0 by the DPD test. I'm not too confident in my electronic pH meter, reads something different testing the same...

PH 8.0 - OK if CSI Good?

So adding and testing for borates is a way to decrease PH rise. Would I want to add another regime or continue with 6oz MA a day? I was going to start another thread... This week I am allowing the PH to stay higher =>7.8 and I noticed PH doesn't rise as fast. Went two days and then only had to...

PH 8.0 - OK if CSI Good?

I have been adding on average 6oz MA daily to stay around 7.6. Based on the statement above, my mature plaster is a factor that is causing my PH to rise. The CSI avg is -0.05 for this year. Before I got the CYA and FC managed, FC reached 12.0. My solution was to turn off the SWG. It was off for...

PH 8.0 - OK if CSI Good?

I logged on today to search for answers now that I have more data (in my mind) about my constant PH rise. I read through this post and don't see anyone address how long you are running your SWG per day. Time of sunshine exposure is a consideration. My pool is roughly your size, no screen...

    Help/opinions with SWG selection

I cannot answer as my self installation is beyond the warranty. The product works well for me.

    Help/opinions with SWG selection

I have Hayward T-15, good for 35k. It's over 3yr old, running at 20%, 8 hours a day, in Florida. CYA is about 80 and I have turn it off on occasion because my FC gets too high. There's never a build up of calcium but PH does rise although that may be due to the spill over. My first was a Jandy...

    My Iron Stain Removal

It's been over 4 months since I started the process, See "My Iron Stain Removal". The pool is still stain free, mostly. The major stain accumulation is at the plastic main drain of the pool, which is a suction to the pump (in addition there are two skimmers). There is another main drain in the...

I have no need for TFP!

Like PBS, there is great content here. Now if there was a 3-DVD set of classic rock... Just kidding, the included perks and knowledge go well beyond a set of DVD's.

    Poly-fill Use

Using poly-fill in the skimmers to remove iron. Should it float or sink? I repurposed poly out of a specialty pillow and it is packed into the basket but it floats the whole basket. I put tile to weigh it down. Is this normal?

    My Iron Stain Removal

Howdy! Believe it or not I kept FC 3ish last year when the water temp was in the high 80's. My SWG is for 40k gallons and my pool is a liberal 18k. SWG @ 35-50 depending on sun hours and rain. I haven't seen algae, knock on plaster in almost a year. Full disclaimer: I retired about then and was...
