Where to Find Liquid Chlorine page

Thank you. I just got an order in for 12. Though my last was accepted then later canceled. At this new cost set-point, I'm wondering how long I'll continue without pucks.

Solar cover to diminish FC loss??

Greetings. Wondering whether a UV-reflecting pool cover would decrease rate of UV-induced FC loss? Any experience appreciated. Regards,

Mystery: 1st phenol red pH reading too low

Like today for example. First pH reading 7.8. Second 8.0 which is more in line with recent readings. Some times the difference is more like 7.4 to 8.0.

Mystery: 1st phenol red pH reading too low

Greetings, pool chemistry buffs. Anyone have any ideas? My first pH reading is often way too low. The second reading makes more sense. Same rinsing with tap water 3x, then with pool water 3x, same pool water sample. Thank you for your consideration. Cheers.

    pH steady over 8.0 OK?

Hi, all. In the cooler months my pool's pH seems to stabilize at 8.1 - 8.4. The CSI at this level is fine. Is it OK to let the pH sit at this level? Thank you for your consideration. Current readings: pH 8.2 TA 90 CH 225 Salt 2400 Borate 40 CYA 45 - 50 (I put 47 in Poolmath) Temp 67

New Hayward pump strainer basket lid solves air leak!

I wish I’d paid more attention 10 years ago when I first noted small bubbles coming from the return jet closest to the pump. Today, when a major air leak forced me to replace the lid and o-ring, lo and behold: the inside of the basket is calm and peaceful while the pump is running. Somehow I’d...

What is the best current (May 2021) borate test?

Greetings. Its been some years since I bought LaMotte borate strips. Just now running out. What is the best current suggestion for borate testing? Thank you as always. PS- as soon as my pool breaks the 80 degree mark, I'll jump in. Currently 76 degrees, too chilly for me.

pH: How high is too high?

OK. Scale formation: if my CSI is OK? / Skin: not currently swim season. / Seems there is some difference of opinion on HOCL/OCL significance. What else? Thanks to all for chiming in.

pH: How high is too high?

Thank you all. The CSI is nominal, the salt is just accumulated over the years, and, you're right: I should either buy a pH meter or just add some acid! BTW, what exactly is bad about having a pool pH in the 8s? Ron

pH: How high is too high?

Greetings. I've asked this years back, but now I'm into uncharted high pH territory and I want some opinions. As you'll see, my CSI is fine. And I figure, if I don't have to go out in the cold and add acid, I won't. I'm lazy. Thanks. pH 8.5 (approx. as 8.2 is top of the color scale) FC 5.5 TA...

    Big time daily chlorine loss

Thank you all. You are correct. My CYA is below 30, above 20! Adding now. Sometimes it seems I have to pose the question before I can do what is really needed to solve it. Regards,
