Robot Selection, Control, & Outlet Configuration

I see you're in TX, so I suspect your house is built on a slab - my circumstances might be too different from yours to be germane (I have a basement where my electric panel is located). But my advice is to take a look at your layout and perhaps just bury some empty PVC conduits under your patio...

    Settling issue with new pool

That's heartbreaking to see in a brand new pool. The pool builder knows he screwed up. He's probably rushing around trying to get jobs wrapped up before the end of the building season and the last thing he wants to do is contemplate tearing out your concrete and replacing it. What kind of...

Yep, I made note of your suggestion; apologies for not acknowledging it. Not sure how thick the slab is, but I expect we will have to find out. Since the renovation was recent I expect the specs/plans are available to us.

Funny you should ask about the budget. I really have no idea. I will say this, theatrical equipment is crazy expensive. Last spring we needed to build an interior house with a balcony. That was no problem, but the whole thing had to spin around behind closed curtains to become the interior...

I appreciate these ideas and input. I knew heating would be a significant challenge. I was wondering if multiple small heaters plumbed in series would get the job done, but at the rate calculated above it would take several of them to be close to practical. Electrical bonding. I hadn't...

I had not seen that thread. It is a fascinating idea. I'm pushing for a much smaller volume of water. The director threw out 2 feet as the max depth (hence my estimation of 18" for an average originally). I'm advocating for 12". They won't be doing laps, after all. It's a set piece. And...

I think the show is scheduled to run several times over the course of a weekend. Yes, I agree it's overboard. We have a pattern of building pretty extravagant sets for these shows. The choice of play is pretty much set in stone due to licensing/copyright issues that I won't go into here. So...

CYA IS needed in an indoor pool... I had no idea. Precisely the kind of input I was hoping to get. Thank you.

Trust me... nobody here can voice a reservation about this that hasn't already been voiced. I'm really only seeking advice on how to keep the water safe. That's the point of this forum, yes?

Oh, geez. That's a good question! I know the place has a pretty robust HVAC system that went in with the renovation. But I have no idea how it will deal with something like a pool heated to 90+ degrees F (assuming we can get it heated to that level).

Long time forum lurker here who enjoys crystal clear water in my pool thanks to everyone's help. I searched the forum for this question and am quite confident it's never been asked before. ;) My daughter is a high school senior who actively participates in the school drama program...

Low TA and High pH - what happened?

I've been following TFP methods for maintaining my pool for several years. I've had clear water and no real balancing problems, but I had something happen this week which has me befuddled. Sunday afternoon I did my usual clean up on the pool (in ground fiberglass, 12.4K gallons, SWG, no water...

    Pump maintenance, help requested

I've had mixed luck with the Hayward single speed superpumps. We built our pool in the summer of 2005 and I either had the motor rebuilt or replaced the whole pump four times. I started with a 1HP superpump, the motor of which I had rebuilt by a shop after a couple years. When it died again...

Do i need a new sand filter

My sand filter experience is limited to Haywards. I've had mine apart a couple of times for different issues. I don't think there is much that can go wrong with a sand filter which would necessitate replacement of the entire unit. Replacement parts are readily available. I did have to...

Time to do something different with my pump

I remember the first time I took my original pump to the motor guy for repair. He asked me if I brought it indoors during the winter. I replied no, my pool installer had told me it wasn't necessary (which was true). He said (and I remember this clearly), "You should bring it in. You expose...
