    Suz's new pool tests

My pool gets direct sunlight all day and I basically go through 3-4 ppm a day with a CYA between 40-50. This sun is eating chlorine!

Suz... Just a heads up on bleach. Kroger is running a 2.99 sale for their brand bleach and its 8.25%. You need their discount card. I bought a ton this week.

Suz: Did I see a bunch of plumbago in your plant deliveries? MY wife LOVES the plumbagos. I think we ended up with about 13 of them lol

Suz don't worry the green will be gone once the water starts circulating. Mine was super green on first fill up. Everything looks beautiful!

    Borates and FC Question

I just added borates this weekend to my pool and had a quick question (maybe a dumb one). Do we continue to use the CYA/FC level recommendations even with 30-50 ppm borates? I assume the answer is yes, and that the borates my decrease the rate of consumption, but the range still needs to remain...

New Pool Build - Conroe, TX - LOTS of pics! Come say hi Y'all.

That FC level will be fine once you get your CYA up. During a sunny day your FC will get eaten alive with no CYA. If you tested in the evening yesterday with your FC at 1, and this morning before alot of sunlight, it would make perfect sense for your FC to go from 1 to 4. With your pump running...

Are you running your pump at night? I use the quick test just to see if my FC is in the ballpark. The larger test with the power is more accurate. I am surprised with the tabs your CYA hasnt started to go up. I wouldnt be too concerned with FC of 4 vs 5 on the "quick vs large" test.

Our overflow pipe was put in before gunite as the pipe is secured in the gunite. Hope they have another option. I'll be curious to see what their solution is.

What color did you go with? Blue granite?

Pool reno can't decide between Pebbletec Tahoe Blue or Blue Granite PebbleSheen

Muffin- Tahoe blue sheen isn't advertised but is available if you use modern method gunite as the applicator. Not sure if you have that ability. Blue granite and Tahoe blue were our finalists. I don't think you can go wrong with either. Thanks for the kind words on my picture Suz and Wendy!

We went with Tahoe blue pebble sheen. It's new for our applicator in Houston. I love it because it's darker with clouds and at dusk but a nice blue with the sun. It was green at startup but haven't noticed any green hue to it since.
