Welp that was 100% the problem. I had the 240V pigtail plugged in and my old one was running on 120. i swapped in out in the rain last night and the SOB fired right on up.

Well James. You are 100% correct. Pool place said it requires 220 and this is fed by a 20 Amp 110. Is there an internal setting to change it to 110 on these units, since the previous (exact model) unit was powered by 110, i feel like this is a 110 unit, or do i need to call an electrician...

When i first power it on its says ERR AFS, then when i turn the heater button on it switches to ERR AGS

I don't know the capacity rating, however along the same lines, i've had this exactly same make and model heater working properly installed here for the previous 7 years. I have changed nothing about the original install except hooked up and new heater the exact same way than before.

I literally pulled out the previous heater and put in the exact same model... with all the same connections and everything

Yes. We did and checked with a manometer on the inlet side of the valve that we have gas. Also checked all the sensors and everything. It's almost as if the gas wont prime into the heater
