I want step by step plan starting a new intex pool

Hi, I don't want to hi-jack this thread either. If you're interested you can find my post from last year discussing this issue here yet-another-newb-with-a-new-pool-questions-and-pics-inside-t47353.html with pics. I think the consensus was because of high TA and CH running a SWG would take a...

I want step by step plan starting a new intex pool

I know I'm late, been busy and just opened my pool this past weekend, but wanted to say that our setups are very similar. (I have the 15x48 Intex on well water). I originally planned on an bought the Intex SWG as well but our well has to many minerals in it to run it. I would recommend that...

Question about Calcium Hardness Test in the TF-100 kit.

Thanks, I had looked at that and tried one of the variations with similar results so figured they would all come out the same so I thought I would ask to make sure I wasn't doing something wrong. I just did a double alteration to the test so could someone confirm if I did it right? I took...

Question about Calcium Hardness Test in the TF-100 kit.

In the directions that came with my kit it states to add 20 drops of R-0010 and then 5 drops of R-0011L and the mixture will turn red if Calcium is present. I'm using a speedstir so I know it's not a mixing issue per say but my intial results continue to come out pinkish with a purple tint...

    Thru-wall Skimmer Question

I did mine when the water was about 4" below the bottom of my cutout. For me I felt it was easier with it mostly full as I knew the liner was stretched at that point and the hole was morelikely to be the right size and right where I wanted it.

    Newly installed skimmer leaking!

I installed the exact same skimmer on my Intex, After going around several times each time tightening a bit more I had no leaks on the part that actually connects to the pool. I did continue to have a small drip type leak in one corner where the basket box attached to the skimmer body for about...

Any alternative fighting my 480ppm TA fill water?

Think I'll keep checking back in this thread as I could use the same kind of help. My fill water has a TA over 600 and I'm losing about 1" to 1.5" of water daily... I've got the TA down to 190 in the pool but it seems to be a battle at this point between how quick I can get the PH up to add...

    Skimmer and return installation

For what it's worth my Hydrotools skimmer came with the 2 gaskets as well, but it came with a template and the instructions had you make the cutout as one of the first steps in the install process. The instructions then made a point of stating several times the gasket inside the pool went...

1600 gph vs 2650 gph intex sand filter

If I recall correctly when I set mine up the hoses that came with it do not work out of the box with no mods to the pool. With such a big pump I cut out both of the existing "nipple" hose attachments on the pool and put in a real return as well as a through the wall skimmer. I can't remember...

Yet another newb with a new pool, questions and pics inside!

Re: Yet another newb with a new pool, questions and pics ins It's getting there! :whoot: TA hit 200 last night, so it's well on it's way. I've used 2 gallons of sequestrant at this point lol, but the water is soooo close to being cystal clear, just a slight yellow tint left!!

    UGH! I'm THAT guy. PICS!!!

The way it's leaninging if it goes it looks like whoever is in it is going right into that chainlink fence, ouch! You can try doing what I did to level my yard out, it was only off by about 2-3" in places. I rented a sod cutter, cut out all the grass and then got a piece of rebar...

1600 gph vs 2650 gph intex sand filter

I got mine off of Amazon just a few weeks ago, great price, no tax for me here in CA and because I already had a prime membership I ordered it Friday night and had it Monday morning with free shipping!

Iron Problem .... Will this ever end??

I would kill for only needing to add an ounce a week to control my iron problem lol!  I've added 2 gallons of sequestrant so far and while my pool is now very clear it is still a very light yellow color. Good luck with yours, it truly sucks when your only source of water is...

Yet another newb with a new pool, questions and pics inside!

Re: Yet another newb with a new pool, questions and pics ins I'm not sure "slimey" is what I'd call it. Not really sure what it is. Here are a couple pics. This was after just a day and a half in the water and 10 hours total run time. This is looking into the cell, The copper block is...
