    Fluctuating chlorine level

Good question. As I understand it this is a variable speed pump so I'm not sure what the actual speed is. The person who installed the system recommended we run it 8 hrs a day. I've tried lowering the length of the run time by 1-3 hrs but that doesn't seem to change the need for the adjustments...

    Fluctuating chlorine level

Thought I’d provide some follow up information. I’ve tried various combinations of chlorinator settings and time. We’ve had some hot weather here in Los Angeles but cooler now. It’s not been possible to choose one setting for the chlorinator so I’ve changed it accordingly. Now that the weather...

    Fluctuating chlorine level

I checked again. It’s a Jandy Tru Clear Pro unit. Yes we recently put a cover on the pool. It’s a light weight bubble wrap kind of Cover. I’m going to try 40% for 7 hrs. I’ll let you know how that works out and thanks again.

    Fluctuating chlorine level

Thanks for the suggestions. I used the pool math app to calculate as mgtfp suggested however the results are confusing. I’ve tried attaching a screenshot.

    Fluctuating chlorine level

Thanks in advance for any suggestions you contribute. We have a 10,000 gallon lap pool. 10x30 ft. It’s 4 yrs old. Equipment is Jandy SWG. We live in Los Angeles Ca. Salt level is 3200. CYA 70. Variable pump runs 8 hrs a day. When salt generator set to 40 chlorine level will rise to 10 in a few...

    Heater requires faster pump speed

I found that I could run at 2000 and had no problem with the heater. I did notice that the chlorine level went up to 8. We have a Jandy True Clear SWG. It was set to 40% . It had been between 5-6. I suppose the increase is due to increased flow rate. I’ll lower the SWG to 30% and see what...

    Heater requires faster pump speed

Thanks ajw22. We just backwashed the filter before the current trial. Our pool plumber suggested the 2600 rpm. He thinks that is the best speed. I like your approach though so I’m going to try it.

    Heater requires faster pump speed

No only the first speed is the factory set default at 1750. I set the second button ( there’s 4 ) to 2600 at the plumbers suggestion.

    Heater requires faster pump speed

No we’ve had no problems with the SWG or maintaining chlorine levels.

    Heater requires faster pump speed

We have a Jandy VS pump and Jandy NG heater both 2 yrs old. About a month ago I noticed that the heater would shut off after a few minutes showing error message to check flow rate. The pump usually runs at the default speed of 1750. If I increase the speed to 2750 the next setting the heater...

    Backwash dilemma

I’ve asked the pool contractor to look at it. He thought it was a threaded pipe too but it’s not. Hopefully he can figure out a reasonable fix. Thanks for all the help. I’ll post more information when I have some.
