how long can tabs be used without having to refill pool due to high CYA?

To clear up a few misunderstandings, the SWG I had been using was a Zodiac model C170. If it needed cleaning only once a week I would not have minded, but I had to do it daily as the plates became bridged with white calcium deposits. Also the cell s only lasted for one season. Since using liquid...

how long can tabs be used without having to refill pool due to high CYA?

Just adding more salt will NOT affect the chlorine or CYA level. If I do not use tablets I will have to use liquid Chlorine, the only other alternative is to add a swg but I have been there and done that in the 50 years I have operated a pool here in AZ and would not want to go back to that as...

how long can tabs be used without having to refill pool due to high CYA?

Salt will not make any difference to cya readings. Anyway I already have some salt added as it seems to make the water feel softer, but maybe that's psychological? The only way to lower cya is by draining and replacing, that is why I am concerned about adding more tabs.

how long can tabs be used without having to refill pool due to high CYA?

I had been using liquid chlorine but as my local HD was out of it I started using trichlor tabs which I had bought for when I go away. My CYA was 45 but went to 70 after only 7 tabs had been dissolved. I still have over 50 unused tabs and would like to use them for the convenience but do not...

Going through a 128 oz 10% bleach daily, is this normal?

I am also in Arizona and normally use 32 oz of 10% liquid CL a day. My CYA is 70. I agree with the person who mentioned that it is important as to how it has been stored. I had been buying from Walmart in the 2 pack carton but now they have eliminated the cartons and just sell individual gallon...

Leak from pvc screw in on top of pump

I had to replace sections of pipe but I now have a leak from the connector screw in to the top of pump. During the repait I had to turn the elbow it was connected to by about 45 deg out, ie anti CW, and then back again to its original position. Fortunately part of my repair included a...

How much Seaklear should it take before a reduction in phosphates is seen

This product did not seem to change Phosphate level much. Level was at 500ppb initially before adding 2oz SeaKlear. 3 days later it was about the same. I then added a further 8 oz and a week later phosphate level went to between 300-500., which level was tested by myself using the phosphate test...

    Hayward vs Circupool RJ45 SWG

I had a SWCG which was made in Australia and went under the brand name of Zodiac. That unit was a nightmare so just make sure that Circupool is not made by the same company!

    TDS rose rapidly

Agree, I also cannot understand the need for so much acid in an effort to keep my ph at 7.8. My CH was 260 in May when I had changed the water and is now 450. Other than the problem with needing so much acid and the rise in TDS, the water has always been sparkling and combined Cl has always...

    TDS rose rapidly

I drained and refilled my pool in May 2017 and the TDS tested at 1700. However by September it had risen to 4000. I had been adding 4 gall of acid 31% every month at the rate of 16 oz day, to control high ph. Is it possible that the acid has been etching out minerals etc from the pebbeltec to...

Rapidly dropping alkalinity and 13# Baking Soda only raises it by 10ppm

Just tested my TA again and it was 150, so I took a sample to pool store and they came up with 140. It seems that my test kit is close to accurate but my TA has gone from 90 to 140-150 in a week without adding baking soda, but 1" of rain fell in that time. Meanwhile PH remains at 8+ despite...

    Dallas area bleach

I had been buying Clorex in the 3 pack from Costco in the Phoenix area where it was selling for $8.45 until two weeks ago when the price suddenly went to $9.95! Why would chlorine have increased by 15% is a mystery, but I am sure Costco are having to pay more for it. This is Chlorine, not gas!

Rapidly dropping alkalinity and 13# Baking Soda only raises it by 10ppm

For the past week every morning the ph has been 8+ and I have added 16oz acid every morning and one day same at night, but the ph seems to stay at 8+. I have never had that problem in past seasons and the only thing which is different is that we have had a lot more rain this year, which is very...

Rapidly dropping alkalinity and 13# Baking Soda only raises it by 10ppm

In the past 2 weeks I have added total of 2 gall 34%acid and the ph has never gone below 8! Since adding 34 lbs of baking soda over the same period my TA is now 90 which should be ok. A week ago we had over 1" rain and the water temp has been a high of 88 and morning low of 83. During the past...

Rapidly dropping alkalinity and 13# Baking Soda only raises it by 10ppm

All tests done using Taylor K2006 kit. Surely the amount of baking soda added should have raised TA considerably by now?
