Oceansol your spa side can be disconnected by unplugging the red connector that feeds it. This is found inside the Jandy panel.

Jandy system shuts down pumps unexpectedly

Pool gate, do you have a spa-side controller in your system? Your symptoms point to a failing spa-side unit. They are known to get flaky after a few years. As a test you can disconnect it and see if the ghost behavior persists…

Jandy system shuts down pumps unexpectedly

Hi folks, I’ve got a Jandy controlled pool with a Jandy spa jet pump and a pentair vsf filter pump. I run the filter pump on a 7am to 7pm schedule. For the past few months I often find the filter pump is off even though it should be running. The Jandy system correctly reports the filter pump...

Spring opening, and I got carried away with chemicals

Thank you for the feedback. I did the drop test again for TA twice and it appears that i got 130 and 200 accordingly. I’m using the tf-100 kit.

Spring opening, and I got carried away with chemicals

I opened my pool this past weekend and I got a bit bold with my chemicals. Before any testing I dumped 4 gallons of unmarked chlorine I got from a pool maintenance guy, and 4 gallons of hardware store muriatic acid. I also added about 10lbs of stabilizer. Now that I’m getting around to testing I...

And Texas to answer your questions yes it’s an outdoor pool that hasn’t been closed yet. I’m not scheduled to close but typically by Halloween it’s time.

1 year old pool, can’t get the balance quite right.

Hi TFP. We’ve had two full New England seasons on our new pool at this point and I can’t seem to get my levels in line. I’ll start with my current test numbers: FC 4.5 CC .5 CH 375 TA 270 CYA 55 pH over 8.2 After the most recent test, I added 2 gallons of 20 Baume acid and a fair amount of dry...

First time opening my pool - some issues with DE and air in the lines

Update: my spa jet pump issue is resolved: the jet outlets were closed, they simply needed to be opened. Next challenge is the DE filter.

First time opening my pool - some issues with DE and air in the lines

Gotcha. I did run the pump without DE in the filter overnight. I will clean the filter as the next step. By cleaning, Are you suggesting the ‘take it apart and hose down the grids’ method, or the more involved ‘soak it in a barrel of diluted acid’ method? Thanks again for the suggestions. P

First time opening my pool - some issues with DE and air in the lines

Thanks ajw22; that is a logical explanation. I’ve got a tf-100 test kit on the way. I will probably add a little chlorine in the meantime and circulate as you suggest. Peter
