    Gunite in Louisiana - Swimming!

Ditto on the tanning ledge. It is the most used and favorite part of our pool. The kids love it, the dogs love it, and I do the same with the Adirondack chairs. My daughter used to even put the lounge chairs on the ledge and study when she was in high school. My two regrets on our pool design...

CYA/Chlorine - Angry pool store guy

I keep an excel spreadsheet of my levels so I can see how they fluctuate and try to determine what is causing it. When I do bring a sample to a pool store, just to see, and they tell me my CYA is 30 I just pull out my spreadsheet and say that is amazing because it has been fluctuating between...

    Difference in Taylor Calcium Buffers

Thank you very much for your advice. I just spoke to Wayne at Taylor and he said the R-0653-2 is totally different than the R-0010. The 0653 is what they use in the large glass bottles, jars, whatever, at the store to test your water. I said, "so I need to get the 0010 and the guys at the pool...

    Difference in Taylor Calcium Buffers

Thank you. I will do this and let you know. I wish they would put this info on their website, the pool stores don’t have a clue and they’re selling it as the same thing.

    Difference in Taylor Calcium Buffers

I was hoping that something like one drop equals 10 might be the case, but wasn’t sure.

    Difference in Taylor Calcium Buffers

I ran out of the calcium buffer that comes with the Taylor K-2006 kit and bought a larger bottle, trying to save a few pennies, but didn't realize it was a different number on the bottle. R-0010 comes with the kit, but I got R-0653-2. Can this be used with the R-011L and R-0012 reagents?

Shrimp in my salt water pool?????

Wow! Thanks, I've never heard of such a thing. How do I keep them from getting in my pool? It does rain quite a bit down here and when it rains, it pours.

Shrimp in my salt water pool?????

I wish that was the case, but I am the one out there fishing these things out of my pool everyday. I wish they were big enough to eat or at least use as bait. Lol!

Shrimp in my salt water pool?????

Why do I have shrimp in my salt water pool? They are very, very tiny, but those are definitely shrimp. The second image shows them in relation to the bottom of a small beach bucket so you can see how small they are, maybe 1/2 cm. FC 6.5 pH 7.4 TA 80 CH 300 CYA 50

Slamming and the dead worms? Show up.

Ok, so the grubs, if that is what they are, keep showing up and in larger numbers now. I am in south Louisiana so our summer is heat or rain, often a deluge. We have never had a problem with these grub things before and have had the pool for 8-9 years. Could this be a sign of a leak or a clogged...

Slamming and the dead worms? Show up.

Yes, it has stormed everyday this week. Makes it very difficult to keep chlorine levels for slamming when it gets diluted everyday. Thank you for your reply, so glad it’s not something really gross.

Slamming and the dead worms? Show up.

I am in the process of slamming my pool for mustard algae and one day I found piles of these dead worms, maggots, larvae? They are always clumped together and dead, but what are they and where did they come from?
