Upgrading a 2 speed WhisperFlo motor to a Variable speed motor

Great Thanks.. One last question then... If I installed the 2.7 (which Inyo carries and I have used them in the past) if I get the larger 2.7, can I just run it on lower RPM to accomplish the same flow? The Whisperflo had a 2hp single speed originallly. OR would it be bertter to shop...

Upgrading a 2 speed WhisperFlo motor to a Variable speed motor

Thanks, have you used the Nidec Neptune motors? and what is a good source for them? I would not mind getting rid of the timer.

Upgrading a 2 speed WhisperFlo motor to a Variable speed motor

Yes. Actually the low speed was 24/7 and High was about 4 hours for the pool sweep booster pump. Its a 27000 gallons so it takes a while to turn it over 2 or 3 times. BUT I never actually calculated the turnover. that just kept it pretty clean. That was from the original install in 2002...

Upgrading a 2 speed WhisperFlo motor to a Variable speed motor

OK, the latest motor died... time for an upgrade I suppose. existing is a 1.5 (2.2) hp 2 speed. on a WhisperFlo wet end. Suggestions on the best (longevity) option for a Variable speed motor. I HATE working on the pool. Thanks in advance.

Old Intermatic 10404R with a "relay" inside

Thanks, I finally drew a full wiring diagram of my own to figure out what they were using it for. the relay was NC, so that was wired low speed. and when on high speed, it passed the leg to the Booster pump. the Relay socket and Relay were IDEC brand, IE the Booster only runs on High speed...

Old Intermatic 10404R with a "relay" inside

1st, it is an old pool. built 2002. I have replaced a couple of the pool timer modles over the years, but it appears the relay socket underneath has expired (burnt up) I also just replaced a swollen run capicitor on the pump motor. Motor is stopping after about 10 seconds of running. 2 speed...

Ao smith b985 or century B2984

OK, I assume THP is total horse power.. the 2983 shows to be a 1.5 HP though. which I assume I need the larger motor to match the impeller. let me know if there is something I need to read.... Last, Is the 2984 just more efficient on the lower speed? it only shows 1.8 amps and my existing...

My ultra flow pump has a B985 AO Smith motor. Local pool supply only has Century B2984 motor they claim will work. The 2984 is a 2 HP 2 speed, but amps look to be different. Question is, will it work or should I wait for the B985 motor

Hi, Just tooling around looking for info on new pumps

As the title says, I am trying to decide on going back to a two speed pump or taking the expense of a Variable speed. I have owned two pools, the last for 15 years with no major issues. i do all my own maintenance when possible. Jim
