Balancing advice for my situation with high TA, low calcium

Thanks. Interesting. Definitely different than my gunite pool when I was in FL. 😁 My pool water did not feel great. The only number off when we swam was the TA at 190.

Balancing advice for my situation with high TA, low calcium

Regarding TA, I decided to test my house water that is used to add to pool when needed is 320. Hmmm.

Balancing advice for my situation with high TA, low calcium

Hi Pat. I was only looking to increase CH as it is well below the recommended range. I don't know about needing a specific level for the heater. That is new to me. Anyway, I was just curious if I should get the TA under control first or increase CH now as well.

Balancing advice for my situation with high TA, low calcium

Hello all, I'm getting my pool into good balance after opening a week or so ago. I'm managing chlorine and PH well, but my TA was crazy high, at 200. PH was around 8, so I've been bringing that down each day with muriatic acid. TA has come down to 170 so far. I know I can keep up the acid use...

Moved from FL to MN and have a pool here!

Hi folks, Well, after being in FL for some time, we returned to the midwest and I have an inground pool here in MN. I'm in the Twin Cities area. Any other people in this area on the forums? I'm going to have to learn a lot about what to do with pools that have to be shut down and started up...

Successful SLAM (I think) but still algae

It turned out well. I've been keeping my FC on the high side around 6 and it was great until today I noticed something when I brushed. My FC is 6.2 and CC was .2. water very clear. So I'm starting to suspect it may just be dirt or pollen after large rains. It looks greenish but it isn't in...

Successful SLAM (I think) but still algae

Thanks. I vacuumed and brushed and did the filter and yes, I'm going to do the OCLT tomorrow if the stuff remains.

Successful SLAM (I think) but still algae

Hi Pat. Our pollen season is over so that's not it. Funny, during peak pollen when my whole deck and everything is yellow, the pool seems to filter it fine. I just have to clean the filter more. We have had a few big rains. Could it be some fine material that isn't algae? It's definitely...

Successful SLAM (I think) but still algae

Hi all, I've done a few SLAMs over the years and always had success, but this time seems to be different. I went through the process and it seemed successful. I have a pebble finish concrete pool 14,000 gallon. My CYA is 30 so I put the SLAM level to 12 and kept it there until it met the...

pool cage screen door hinge replacment - having trouble with finding right rivets and other issues

Hi all, when my pool was remodeled my pool cage door hinges broke. They snapped vertically behind the rivet. The remodeler said he'd fix but can't ever seem to get a crew out, and I called some screen repair folks and they are all too busy to do a small job. So I ventured to do it myself. The...

any change to maintenance and testing routine with wet edge vs plaster?

I do have that brush and just bought a replacement after 5 years with the first one. It is great. I also bought a protuff pole - what a difference. It has locking extension vs compression fitting, and even at full 16' extension does not bend. I finished the 28 days and the finish looks great.

any change to maintenance and testing routine with wet edge vs plaster?

Thank you very much. I did find the startup guide and I'm going to talk with my remodeler about support. So far, all they've talked about is getting the pool filled and chemicals done - no mention of post-support. Which I'm fine doing myself but will still ask. I'm going to ask about that...

any change to maintenance and testing routine with wet edge vs plaster?

Hi everyone, my pool is nearing completion of its remodeling. I have a 14K gallon gunite pool, (chlorine, not SWG) and for the remodel we went with wet edge. The way I maintained the pool to-date was as follows: - I ran a Kreepy Krauly sand shark most of the time with skimmer/shark on and...
