Hayward Cartridge Filter Locking Knob Repair

Many thanks. With your help and clear pictures it took me no time to fix the problem. Another thread suggested that the top of the filter housing will pop off when the pump is turned on -- and it did :-) . The nylon washer and the eclips had come loose and was inside the housing. After that it...

The effect of rainwater on swimming pools

well, according to that Australian reference chlorine efficiency at pH = 8 is 3%, now considering CYA allows chlorine level to drop by only 30% (compared to what it is at pH=7.5), it still will indicate that at pH=8, we have only 9% effective chlorine? Am I missing something? One of the earlier...

The effect of rainwater on swimming pools

Actually the efficacy is only 3% at pH >8 -- please see the bottom-most link Here is the link 1 that says higher pH = less chlorine efficacy http://www.cdc.gov/healthywater/pdf/swimming/resources/disinfection-team-chlorine-ph-factsheet.pdf and here is a more specific link showing relation...

The effect of rainwater on swimming pools

I checked today and we did not have any appreciable rainfall since yesterday. I had run my robot for three hours and the pump was running at 3000 rpm for 12 hours so I am sure the water is well mixed. I used my Taylor K-2006 to analyze this time. the pH is really beyond the scale which means >8...

The effect of rainwater on swimming pools

I have cross checked the pool stores analysis and found them to be similar to my own testing with my Taylor 2006. The reason I get the water tested there (in addition to my testing) is to make my chemicals last longer. But I do my testing also in between store testing. I collected this water...

The effect of rainwater on swimming pools

I had a substantial increase of pH after several days of moderate rain in South Florida. I have a Taylor 2006 kit but get an analysis from local Pinch-a-penny whenever I go there to buy some chlorine. On May 23 Pinch a Penny analysis: TC=7.5 FC = 7.5 CC = 0, TpH = 7.5, A=160 Calcium Hardness =...

FYI - Recommend Periodically Testing End-Of-Cable Voltage On Smartpool Cleaners

ChuckDavis, Can you email me the repair manual? I have a NC71 but I guess NC52 and NC71 are similar enough for me to use your manual. I have a very worn cable (the Smartpool service center here in Miami switched my good cable for this one -- and now the service center does not exist) and I...

Many thanks RobbieH, pooldv and mas985 So, I have programmed the pump as follows: 8 am - 9am : 3000 rpm 9 am to 12 noon: 1500 rpm (30 GPM) 3 pm to 4 pm: 3000 rpm 4 pm to 7 pm : 1500 rpm This ought to circulate the volume of my pool at least once every day. Let me see how it goes. I also run...

Moderator note - Split from here: Optimal flow rates for variable speed pumps I don't have any heater or spa or SWG -- a plain and simple rectangular pool of about 16,000 gallons with one skimmer. I am in South Florida and this is an open air pool so gets a fair sprinkling of leaves, seeds...

    Grateful from South Florida

Hi, My pool was a green swamp and in the past I had shelled something like $200 to have it cleaned by pool companies. This time, armed with the knowledge gleaned from these pages, I got it crystal clear by myself. Even my wife is impressed :p. I also ordered a Taylor K-2006 kit and can easily do...
