    ok to add boric acid?

Thank you so much for your help and advice! I read the links and probably will again later. Now I'm off to SLAM and clean the pool before work.😓 Thank you!!

    ok to add boric acid?

We've had yellow algae for a couple years now so I guess we're the exception here.:( I'll try the Slam and see if it appears during a week... but are these levels correct to add the boric add - if they are accurate?

    ok to add boric acid?

TF-Pro and Spin Touch - So far they're both very close, if not the same from our experience (unless I'm doing the TF-Pro incorrectly). My dad won't use the TF-Pro so we have both.

    ok to add boric acid?

We kept having green and yellow algae, so we completely drained the pool 4 months ago; cleaned the filter, washed the walls, scrubbed the tiles and jets, etc. With the new fill water, I hope I got the chemicals right but yellow algae still appears every 3-4 days afterward. At least, the water is...

    High TA

Thank you for the response!! It was so helpful and now we feel we know what to do...and it's not as bad as I thought.:) We tested again last night and TA dropped to 160. Hopefully not too many muriatic acid days to get down to 60. We're planning to mix Boric Acid then. (first time!) Thank you again

I'll reread the article, thanks a ton for the info!:)

    High TA

Thank you for the quick reply. So, do nothing and it'll just come down on its own? This is so confusing.. I also wanted to know (sorry in advance if this is a silly question) - Would adding a couple pounds of 73% cal-hypo be okay right now? (left over from our pool store days) We'll mix it by...

    High TA

After a complete drain, we're refilling the pool as I type. But the fill water TA is 190. I read the article "How to Lower Total Alkalinity" but I'm not familiar with aeration. I had to look it up in the forum to figure out what it meant. So, since this will be a constant issue for us, is...

    borate newbie

We're in the process of completely draining our pool (2nd time). I'm about to order granular boric acid from dudadiesel since it seems to be a reliable source from all that I've read here.:) Once we fill up the water again, are these the ideal chemical ranges pre-boric acid for a plaster pool...

    water tested at Leslie's Pool

Doh, I just read green algae are free floaters and yellow is clingy. I got it now.

    water tested at Leslie's Pool

Thanks Texas:):) I'm not in "control" of all aspects of the pool maintenance however, but I try my best. Would you happen to know what a green powdered pool floor might be? I thought algae only formed on walls?

    water tested at Leslie's Pool

Thanks so much! I'm assuming that applies to all of the tests. I'll be sure the pump has been left running beforehand.(y) The pool didn't pass the overnight FC test. It was 24 this morning, so a loss of -4.5 But regardless if the algae remained or not, we'd need to drain the pool from the high...

    water tested at Leslie's Pool

I'm grateful you explained it the way you did. On the site it reads "The goal is to add more than you really need" in reference to 1 or 2 scoops. You made it easy, thank you. Now I recognize my first FC test was flawed. I'm attempting the overnight FC loss test. I haven't seen any algae since...
