Can someone explain no wheel cleaners with new pebble finish? -- and when is it safe to use heater?

Day 12 with our new pebble finish in 20+ year old pool, I think it's StoneScapes, but I have doubts that we got the "brand name" finish because finisher never gave me any legit (in writing) guidance, but I have been doing my best to follow NPC/StoneScapes start-up procedure. Unfortunately, had...

New NPT Stonescape Mini Pebble Cleaning

I'm in the same boat, but only a week old pebble finish. I'm a bit confused why all pebble finish care instructions I've found online say to use suction cleaners without wheels, but my suction head has little rollers on the bottom and I don't know of any different type - how else would it glide...

Is it motor or pump making noise?

Yes, it IS quiet. It was just installed this morning, and I freaked out when it went into the default program running at 50% and my filter psi was about 2-4. I've since scanned the handy QR code on the new motor and am getting educated on the new settings and how to program. All ears if you...

Is it motor or pump making noise?

Well, moot point now. I went to the pool store for some things, got back, and it was eerily quiet in the backyard because the motor had stopped!

Is it motor or pump making noise?

Our pool company (I have them open and close) just opened our 35K pool to have an old auto cover removed, wall rebuilt, and pebble finish installed. It's about day 4, so pump is running 24/7 to filter as I brush 2x daily, etc. (my questions on this process are for another post!) etc...

Initial Vacuum to waste in gunnite pool

We have a mesh cover over our inground pool. Things blow in, and leaves basically act like tea in the water for 7+ months. You must cover yours with a solid cover?

Initial Vacuum to waste in gunnite pool

Thank you all for confirming what I thought.... I got the plate and plugged the other skimmer with a tennis ball, and got started. I had to stop before finishing because the vac seemed to lose suction and I suspected I'd filled the skimmer basket. I got the shallow end done, which wasn't bad...

Initial Vacuum to waste in gunnite pool

Pool company opened 35K gunnite pool in New England. Waiting for the company to do an initial vaccum takes weeks and I realized we probably have equipment on hand from previous owners. If I want to vac to waste so as not to require cleaning out my pump basket every 5 mintues, I should get one...

    Pool opening in NE

Thanks, TX Splash -- unfortunately, didn't have any liquid chlorine on hand last night but did have 3 bags of Cal-Hypo so I added that and did a FC test a few hours later, and it was 8.5. Tested this morning and it was 7.0. Ran out to get liquid chlorine (and groceries, and pool stuff, and...

    Pool opening in NE

So, I feel like I panic each year opening the pool because it's been 8 months since I last gave it much thought...... BLUF: new company opened pool (20 yo 35K gal gunnite) and left chlorine pucks in skimmers, which I read isn't ideal, so I made some floats and have had them in there. Water...

    FC not dropping after shock

Long story short -- let my 34K gal SWG pool FC get too low for too long (I had an inadequate amount of CYA in water and was constantly using whatever FC was generated) and what I thought had been pollen at the bottom of the pool was actually algae. I SLAM'ed it (first time SLAM) one rainy week...

Start up but forgot to add DE!

Update: Opened up the filter, caked with dirty DE and my husband tried to pull the manifold out for me to wash off but it would not come free. So, I pulled the drain on the filter and rinsed the grids while in the filter. Unfortunately during our attempt to get the manifold out, we broke the...

Start up but forgot to add DE!

Hi, New to TFP but have been referencing each year since we moved into a home with a pool! Each summer I gain confidence taking care of our equipment, but with a long NE winter between seasons I struggle to retain everything I've learned..... Case in point, our pool company opened our pool...
