    Question about testing CH

Yep, your chlorine is way to high to rely on an accurate reading right now. Chlorine will actually bleach out the colors on you test kit when they get too high. So either wait it out, or add some chlorine neutralizer.

    whisperflow motor swap

Well I replace motors as part of my job. Its not too hard at all. Make sure you replace your pump seal because this is 9 times out 10 why your motor went in the first place. I replace mine every year. If it goes it allows water to back up into your motor. Make sure when you install it, that you...

    Anyone familiar with hallmark pools?

I am absolutely sure that it came up out of the ground, in fact when it left the return behind, the pipe took some of the wall with it. It has been patched using a fiberglass boat patch. Here is a link, I will test it to make sure it leads to pics. http://s1042.photobucket.com/albums/b42 ...

    Plaster Pool Care

He is using mostly potassium based non chlorine shock, because he has a mineral sanitizer. (nature 2) I told him he had to use some chlorinated shock, if he wanted to get rid of his algae, so I gave him some cal hypo. When i talked to him, he hadnt used chlorine in months.

    Anyone familiar with hallmark pools?

I have a 1965 Hallmark pool. At least I have been told that is what it is called. It has a concrete bottom, and fiberglass walls. The walls also have joints in them, where it looks as though they layed the bottom, then brought the sides in as premade pieces and then put them together. It also...

Additive to sand in sand filter?

The product I am familia with is called fiber clear and it is supposed to help improve your clarity, and you can add it to sand, cartridge, or it can be used as a safe alternative to DE. There is also a another product called zeo sand. This replaces traditional sand and is supposed to have "DE...

    Help balancing after major drain/refill

As for CYA, make sure you check the shock you are using. Sodium dichlor tends to have cyanuric acid built into it, so everytime you shock your pool, you add more. Cal hypo is typically not as stabilized so it can be good to switch off to keep the cya level down. Plus, if you are adding any...

Is there any reason not to use this?

Also have your spa checked for metals. (depending on the color of the stain) But sometimes heaters can emit some copper, and that will cause staining. Then you could just add some Spa metal free, or something similiar, and that should remove the stain.

I have a major leak in my pool

My plumber that usually works in the house had offered to me to run his camera down there and tell where the leak was located. I know my main drain has a leak because when I connect it up with the pipe from the skimmer, I constantly have to bleed air out of my pump and filter, but when I just...

    Ammonia

Make sure that your water is filtering before you rely on any tests. Even levels in your pool tend to settle when your pool sits stagnant. Youll probably notice a change in levels when you start filtering.

Foaming problem in a chlorine (tablets) pool

It could be calcium hardness, or algaecide, or sometimes phosphates. You always want to make sure you put in a very good algaecide. When it comes to the pipes, it is always good to use a product called Spa Purge before you drain it. This will clean out all of the muck in the pipes. What product...
