Variations of CH test to help with Copper interference

Thank you all very much for your help! A few follow up questions: 1) Given the copper in my water, do you think the Taylor K 1264 is worth the value for my own testing? 2) Do you recommend the Jack’s Magic Sequest Test to know my exact maintenance dosage of the Purple Stuff? 2) Once I add...

Variations of CH test to help with Copper interference

Our fill water is city water, and the copper in it is 0.5 ppm (= 0.49 mg/L). The copper in our pool is also 0.5ppm. We have a brand new pool, and I added all of our chemicals and balanced it using the TFP method instead of the pool builder. I know I didn’t inadvertently add the copper...

Variations of CH test to help with Copper interference

I use the TF-100 test kit and TFP’s Pool School instructions. Latest water test numbers at the bottom. Our fill water has copper in it so I struggle with getting an accurate CH test because of the fading endpoint—even with tips like adding some R-0012 early on or even using 1/2 distilled...

    Fill water for new pool

Thanks guys! We didn’t have any other options for fill water, but my TF-100 kit never fails. So far so good!

    Fill water for new pool

Hello! We are breaking ground on our new pool in 2 weeks. So I’m getting a head start on water chemistry. How do I make sure the fill water (from a truck) is clean, free of metals, etc? Do you just test it when it arrives while the driver stands around irritated? And do I reject the delivery...

    New build in Indiana

Hello! We were first time pool owners at our old house and a friend got me hooked on TFP (I am a dedicated TF-100 test kit owner, and I printed and laminted pages from Pool School 🤓). Now we are in the begining phases of building a pool at our new house in Indiana. What do you think of the...

Is INYO Pool’s Polyquat 60 any good?

I’m ordering supplies for my first Ascorbic Acid treatment. INYO Pool’s carries a polyquat 60, but the TFP’s further reading on algaecide cautions to find a pure polyquat 60. Does anyone have any experience with this: Inyo Pool’s Polyquat 60 Thanks!

5 days of SLAM and not alot of progress

Thanks everyone! I was able to have the pool tested 4 times today, and the last test this evening was the first time FC didn’t fall and stayed at shock level! There’s hope!

5 days of SLAM and not alot of progress

Thanks, at least I’m on the right path just need to find more help to bump up the effort. I use liquid chlorine, 12.5%.

5 days of SLAM and not alot of progress

I’m starting to wonder if my problem is actually algae, my impatience, or something else. I had a slow start to aggressively start SLAM bc I’m super-pregnant and need neighbors to help while my husband is at work. I’m complexed by the daily large drops in FC but a constant 0.5 CC. Here are my...

    SLAM process through the pump

Thanks for the quick responses! I can’t leave the cover open because we don’t have a fence-kids, neighborhood, etc. So if the pump option and Super Chlorinate aren’t good alternatives, I should just plan to restart SLAM once these storms pass? It is what it is...

    SLAM process through the pump

I’m on day 2 of the SLAM process and making progress. The forecast tomorrow is storms all day, and I’m afraid that I won’t be able to get enough water off the automatic cover to open it for water testing and adding shock (cover pump can only do so much in heavy rain). As an alternative, could...
