    FC/CYA

CYA is about 200 ppm and FC is about 20 ppm. I plan to drain the pool this fall and put in fresh water. Trichlor tabs are great, but I found out the hard way that 1. You can't trust cheap test strips and 2. CYA is not easy to get rid of.

Finally got my K-2006 and first test results!

Since I knew my FC was going to be very high, I did a 50/50 dilution with tap (well) water and used 10 ml of it. That way one drop is one ppm. I know it is not very accurate but saves on reagents. I did the same dilution for the CYA test and it showed the water to be way high at 160 ppm. This...

    CYA Too High

Using bad test strips allowed CYA to go to about 160 ppm according to my new Taylor K-2006 test kit. I super chlorinated the 15K pool with 10% NaOCl and a week later the FC is still high at 25 ppm. This was done to get rid of a bad algae problem. The pH is a bit under 7.0 and the base demand...
