Hayward S200 sand filter. How do I install the Bottom Drain Screen?

I have an older Hayward S200 sand filter. I'm replacing the bottom half of the tank because of leaks from some hairline cracks where the bulkhead fittings pass through. I can't figure out how the bottom drain screen attaches to the new tank. On my old tank, it seems like it was glued in but...

Spa leaks internally when jets are turned on

Thanks. I was able to tighten the fittings a bit and it stopped the leak but I ordered new replacement gaskets just in case. The spa is about 8 years old. Not sure what the expected lifespan on those heater gaskets are.

Spa leaks internally when jets are turned on

I'm having an issue with my spa where it leaks internally when I turn on JETS #1. I've linked a photo showing where the leaks are as well as a short video link showing the blast of water past the couplings when I turn on the jets. It doesn't leak when JETS #2 are turned on. Any thoughts on...

Hayward S200 sand filter leaking at multi-port valve connections

Finally getting back to this thread. I pulled everything apart and it appears that one or both of the bulkhead fittings are cracked inside where they penetrate through the filter body. This is allowing a slow drip leak that comes out behind the hex shaped portion of the fitting. There's a...

Hayward S200 sand filter leaking at multi-port valve connections

I have an older Hayward S200 sand filter and I replaced the multi-port valve last year. I noticed that there was a small leak around the connections where the valve connects to the filter. I tried tightening the connections more but I don't think I can get it any tighter without breaking...

Hayward S200 filter replacing multi-port valve: PVC adapter threads too long?

I have an older Hayward S200 sand filter and I'm replacing the multi-port valve because it is cracked internally which allows water to leak past the "spider" gasket out the waste line. Additionally, it has always leaked where the PVC threaded adapters screw into the valve body and I was curious...

Hayward SP71 Vari-flo valve leaking through waste-out line - need a rebuild kit

My Hayward vari-flo value has started leaking through the waste-out line and I'd like to get a gasket kit of some kind to rebuild it. Looking at the label on the valve, it says SP71 (printed) followed by 0X32 (stamped). It has 1 ½ piping and it's connected on the side of what I believe to be a...

Wintertime electrical disconnect for in-ground pool pump?

Thanks, guys. Good to know. Luckily, the capacitors aren't that expensive. I wonder if there is somewhere you can get a higher quality capacitor that will last longer.

Wintertime electrical disconnect for in-ground pool pump?

I have an in-ground pool with a 1HP Hayward Super Pump. It was brand new 3 years ago and last year, it started having intermittent trouble starting (hums and trips the breaker). I picked up a replacement start capacitor which should fix the issue for this season but I suspect that the reason...

New spa w/ Frog system - low PH and TA

I just got a new spa with a built-in Frog system and the PH and Total Alkalinity are very low. Should I try to raise the TA first or the PH? Are borax & baking soda safe to use for raising PH and TA with the Frog system? Is there a guide and chemical calculator for spas like there is for...

Do you ever need to change filter sand?

I didn't have much luck with the "deep cleaning". The sand was fairly filthy with what looks like lots of small bits of decomposed leaves. My filter is the S200 and it has the in/out lines on the side. I wasn't able to find a valve position that allowed me to fill the filter with water and...

Do you ever need to change filter sand?

I know sand doesn't go bad, but it could get coated with oils that don't some off with water or contaminated with particulate matter that doesn't float and can't be easily flushed to the top. That's my main concern, I guess. I'm going to try to clean it this weekend and I'll post back if I...

Do you ever need to change filter sand?

I purchased my house about 3 years ago. It has an in-ground pool that was built in 1980. It has a sand filter, which I believe to be a Hayward S200. I can't find a model number, but it looks exactly like the pictures I find online. I have no way to be sure, I believe that this is the the...
