    Mice, Mice, Mice!

No, I'm not sure. I really didn't look that close. We have had a lot of rain that is for sure. If we have another, I'll look closer. I've looked at baby mice and baby moles on line. I think it's a little hard to tell them apart as a baby. I GUESS I SHOULD NEVER ASSUME!

    Mice, Mice, Mice!

So we opened the cover box tonight and much to mu surprise.....NO MICE. Now I have to admit that there are areas of the box that I can't see, but I didn't see any evidence of mice in the part that I was able to visualize. (I would have to remove the cover from the roller to see all of the box...

    Mice, Mice, Mice!

I'm going to have my husband open the cover box tonight. YIKES. And Moth Balls it is. I am betting money they are in there and I'm hoping they have not eaten through the ropes or the cover. I thought the ropes were metal? Maybe the lack of activity in the cover box over the summer gave...

    Mice, Mice, Mice!

We have had our pool for 7 years and I've never had any problems with mice. Tonight I found our third mouse this year. The first one was on the bottom of the pool and the last two were in the skimmer. The only thing different this year, is the use of Boric Acid and the fact that I've left the...

    Aww-some Cleaner

I don't want to put things in the pool that are not needed, I just thought I'd ask. I'll do the search Yippeeskippy suggested. Thanks.

    Aww-some Cleaner

I see where Ahh-Some cleaner is recommended for cleaning hot tubs (and I'm getting mine ordered this week). But does anyone use it as maintenance in their pool. It looks like they have a product made for pools that is used monthly to keep biofilm out of the pool pipes, filters, etc.:(

    Clorine Level and Boric Acid

It was pink at 7 drops, but the true pink that I am looking for was at 8 drops, so I split the difference.

    Clorine Level and Boric Acid

I want to add borates to stabilize pH, prevent algae, silkier feeling water and clearer, 'sparkling' water. I also thought it might make the pool even easier to manage. Although for the most part pool management has not a big problem. I do work full time and take care of my own pool. I have...

    Clorine Level and Boric Acid

I just opened our pool a week ago. It is in pretty good balance but the total chlorine is still a little high. This is the first year I will be adding Boric Acid and I was wondering if I need to get the chlorine level down before adding the Boric Acid. I read in the post about "so you want to...

In middle of SLAMing and having problems

This is my first SLAM, and I have a couple of questions. #1 - Automatic cover on or off during SLAM. My thought is ON to prevent Sun from eating up chlorine and to keep cover in contact with good chlorinated water to kill any bacteria/algae, etc. #2 - is it OK to pour at least some of the...

In middle of SLAMing and having problems

I didn't intend for the FC level to get up to 60. I was sad about the reading. I used the calculator entering current data and endpoint data. I added the oz. recommended. Maybe my reading of 6 was wrong? I was basing my FC shock level on the SWG chart (24 is the lowest one they mention). I...

In middle of SLAMing and having problems

On Aug 17th I noticed the pool was cloudy. Full disclosure, I neglected the pool for 1-1.5 weeks. :( FC was zero, ph was 7.2, so after reading the SLAM procedure, I added liquid chlorine. Based on my CYA (40), I needed a Shock free chlorine level of 24. So I wanted to keep it above that...

Discrepancy between pH strips and drops

OK. I did test the Chem-Tek against the Taylor 100 and the Taylor 100 is 7.2 like the test strips and the Chem-Tek is 7.6. I assumed it was because of the chlorine level being above 10 (it is 13). I will test again tomorrow night and report back. This has been a very frustrating year for me...

Discrepancy between pH strips and drops

Please start a new thread for your own questions. Thanks, jblizzle I have been using the TF-100 test kit for everything except the pH and a Chem-Tek 5 way test kit for the pH (because it has the ability to adjust for high chlorine levels). However, this year I am nervous about the discrepancy...

Pentair Intellichlor IC40 - cheching remaining life

In case anyone else has the same problem. I did get a response from Pentair. They said that after the bottom bar scrolls to the right, the first set of lights is the percent of life used on the SWCG. As mine is "blank" with no lights, it has less than 20% or less than 2,000 hours of use.
