Motor starting to hum...am I in trouble?

I have been scouring the sticky several times and think it is starting to sink in. I am still leaning toward the Harris 24" sand filter, says 2.8 ft not sq ft?? GPM should be fine, it doesn't specify but says 50 PSI which I think is quite close to 60gpm. Although if money weren't an inhibitor...

Motor starting to hum...am I in trouble?

Pentair 18" sand filter and Century AO Smith motor 1 hp... it vacuums fine. I am just afraid it I don't have at least the 1hp it won't vacuum well. I have a rechargable vac but you know how those batteries are after a few years.

Motor starting to hum...am I in trouble?

Yes and yes. The Harris 24" filter comes with a 1.5hp motor at a steal. But I really wanted the 2 speed. We tend to leave ours running all day, and as stated in many of the threads we probably don't need to be running that long. I just know with our current pump a 1hp, I can't vacuum with...

Motor starting to hum...am I in trouble?

Thank you for the reply. No extras.. With some additional searching I believe I need no smaller than a 24" sand filter. It seems the inches correlate with gallons or at least close. With all my searching it seems it all comes down to plumbing. Pool return jet is 1.5" as is all of the...

Motor starting to hum...am I in trouble?

Well I am pleased to say for the first time in many many years we opened to a crystal clear pool! Our sand filter and motor have followed us through multiple upgrades (multiple Intexs from 18' to 24', maybe 10 years old?) and I just noticed her humming. We had finished vacuuming (yes motor...

marble chips/stones to cover Resin bottom rail and feet/bottom plate

My bottom plates/feet are resin and did not come with covers. Sadly based on all the pics, I assumed, the covers came with the pool. We have purchased marble chips/stones to surround and cover the perimeter. I want to get some input on the best material to prevent any reaction with the pool...

Help! Freak storm during install walls collapsed.

After a long and tedious install we had our liner in and filling our new 33' round above ground pool. Freak storm blows through and pulls walls out of track and over. Advice please.. I am thinking I need to remove liner, well at least remove from walls and fold in toward center enough to work...

How long your Ultra Frame INTEX lasted?

I should mention we kept ours up year round. 3 years should be fine. I will recommend a good pump and filter (no cartridges). We bought a good 1 hp with 22" sand filter after second pool and we hard plumbed last year with wide mouth skimmer we installed (with water in pool). The adapters to...

How long your Ultra Frame INTEX lasted?

We have had two...first one frame rusted out. That one was first on the market at the time and it lasted about 4-5 years. Our second and current one is about three years and frame is good but leaks loosing about and inch every twelve hours. The leaks are somewhere under bladder. For the cost...

    Pool base questions

Currently preparing base for new pool. 33'x54" round (resin bottom rail). After reading multiple threads and internet searches, I am looking for advice on pool base. Ground is currently being leveled starting at lowest point and removing higher elevations. Hubby says sand 2-3", but after...

    Too much chlorine for slam???

Thanks for the tip on recirculating. I am an early riser and a bit obsessive but won't go out with a flash light at night. The frogs will attack...lol. (My daughter fished one out when she was vacuuming). When I can keep an eye on the skimmer, I typically use a sock on the basket (well...

    Too much chlorine for slam???

Had to give myself a face palm today when I tested my water and my CYA level rose...this year my levels were finally manageable (started at 40 this year) after total mess up on my part last year (well and the pool store guy who said I needed chlorine tabs with stabilizer in addition to all the...
