Is it worth a shot raising the ch to help with staining of the plastic as well as fiberglass stairs in my vinyl pool?

Just went and did a local cleaning on stairs and found staining on plastic return eyeball and skimmer as well so maybe that shoots my theory out the window.

I have some rusting stains on screws holding skimmer plate and stairs. Also some staining on the plastic skimmer plate as well. I used ascorbic acid and also tried muriatic acid. I got the stains off of the plastic under the water but the portion above the water is still discolored. See pics...
