Ill keep adding. Thanks. I’m not going to worry about TA being lower than the pool calculator suggests. - - - Updated - - - TA is 80. Pool math is how I knew how much MA to add to get it down to 7.2 but it didn’t stay there.

My TA is 80. The pH was 8.4 yesterday again. I lowered it to 7.2 with MA. Today it is creeping up again and is at 7.8. I don’t know what to do to keep it down and stable.

Ok thanks! I was just going by the numbers on the pool calculator and thought it needed to stay around 100 for my mine since it’s non SW. wasn’t sure how in the world to get the TA to be 100 while lowering the pH so much! But if it can go down to 50 that seems more manageable. Thanks.

That was my plan but how low is too low for TA? And what’s the best way to add MA if I don’t have a deep end? I know to keep it away from the turbulent jets but not sure where to put it. I know it’s some nasty stuff so I’m a little leery of how to proceed.

If I add muriatic acid won’t that lower the TA too much? Not sure what else to do.

I’ve added bleach like normal. We’ve had lots Rain but nothing else out of the ordinary.

My pH is suddenly off the charts! Over 8.2. Checked my TA and it’s 90. What on earth? What do I do?

Just opened pool. Pool man supposedly shocked it but my chlorine is zero. pH is 7.5. TA is only 40! CYA is 30. What do I fix first? Can I add baking soda and bleach at the same time? Will this mess up my pH? Should I up my cya or leave alone? thanks!

Tested three hours later. Already down to 18. So I added 48 more oz of chlorine. I guess I'll do this all night!

I checked my Fc. It was nearly 0 again. So I started my SLAM. I checked my CYA. It's about 50. So I checked the chart checked the chart and saw that my shock level should be at 20. Used pool calculator. It told me that I needed It told me that I needed 483 oz of 8.25% bleach. So I added four 121...

Thank you! I will start the SLAM soon. Water is already clear so I will just keep it up to shock level until I pass the overnight test. I did test the CYA today and it is considerably lower than the last time I checked. It may be me learning to read that test. But I swear I did it the same way...

I started a thread last week asking questions about my first SLAM. Now I can't find it. I have searched with words I used in the title. Have tried searching titles only and posts. I have no notifications when someone replies. When I search the word SLAM I get ALL kinds of posts and questions...

So how long do I keep adding bleach to keep it at the shock level? Let's say I get it up to 28 ppm (shock level based on my cya) and then 2 hours later it is down to 24 ppm. do I add more to get it back to 28 ppm? How long do I do this? Is the point of the whole thing to get it to shock level...

My pool is 16,000 gallons and looks great. Crystal clear. CYA is a little high. According to the TF 1000 it looks to be 70 if I can trust my eyes on that test! I've practiced a few times. Pool isn't holding chlorine. Adding 3 gallons a day. Is that normal? I read some others suggested to SLAM...
