Converting from SWG to Chlorine pool?

How do think it is going?

How much chlorine do you put in daily?

I'm glad you asked because I was going to. I almost have this down to a science but I'm still new. My little 6,000 gallon pool gets plenty of sun and active bathers. My pool is a SWG pool and I seem to go through 12oz per day of the 8.25% bleach. I try to keep my FC at 6 and I lose 1.5 to 2.0ppm...

    Question for a buddy...

Wait! We know most chlorine pucks are both chlorine and CYA. We know the Chlorine goes away and the CYA stays. We know backflushing reduces water thus CYA. I still think it would be extra high. Am I wrong? I'm asking him now when the last time he did a full change out.

    Question for a buddy...

I don't know why I did not post it earlier but I did test it yesterday. It was CH: 160. So that isn't a problem at all in a vinyl lined pool. I personally think he is off the chart with too much CYA and again I have to ask: If my pool is at the suggested 70 for CYA and we suspect his is much...

    Question for a buddy...

He has a 7,500 gal AG pool that does not have a SWG. His specs as I tested them with my k2006 kit were basically: FC: 3 CC: 0 pH: 7.4 TA.100 CYA: 0 He puts in a couple of those chlorine pucks every 2-3 days he tells me and shocks his pool once a week he tells says. So I expected his CYA to be...

    FC and light...

I know it is best to test your water at dusk or is it that you are supposed to treat your water at dusk or later? Here are a couple of questions: I have the Intex above ground 18' round inflatable ring rubber pool. Does the FC get eaten by direct sunlight or is it also eaten by indirect light...

    FC questions:

Yay! Pool FC at 7.0 now and everything else is in order too! I looked back on my spreadsheet that I have been tracking this on and it shows 13 days have passed and here I am. All pool water specifications are on the money. Thanks all!

    FC questions:

Based on what I have read FC not only kills organisms in the water but it also oxidizes the remaining bio-matter in the pool. Right? The pool calculator is telling me to keep my FC at 3.0 but I'm wondering if keeping it a little higher would help disperse the dust like black powder that...

    Critters?

It looks like tim5055 wins if finding critters in your pool is winning. What are Voles? Here is a thread where a gut shows a pic of a gator he found in his pool: http://www.troublefreepool.com/threads/72594-Proud-owner-of-a-glorious-swamp!?p=655167#post655167 I'm starting to not feel so bad...

    Critters?

Hahaha! Those were some great replies. Thanks. 82 degrees is about the coldest I can stand where once I'm in and the sun is out it feels ok enough. My youngest, a 6 year old, comes out of 82 degrees water all shivering and teeth chattering. He is fine in the water though as soon as you get it...

    Critters?

Back before I started using the TFP method just over a month ago, one thing I was unaware of was how low my FC was. You could call me one of the lucky ones because all I ever did was run my SWG for 3 hours a day and my pool stayed pretty much crystal clear ever since October of 2013 or so. My FC...

    Bringing down TA proceedure questions...

I found my answer: You can lower TA by lowering the pH to between 7.0 and 7.2 with acid and then aerating the water to bring the pH back up. Aeration can be supplied by spa jets, waterfall, fountain, rain, kids splashing, compressed air, or by aiming a return up towards the surface so it breaks...

First timer... Trying the TFP method. Just looking for a little direction.

DOH! I just found the answer. Here it is: You can lower TA by lowering the pH to between 7.0 and 7.2 with acid and then aerating the water to bring the pH back up. Aeration can be supplied by spa jets, waterfall, fountain, rain, kids splashing, compressed air, or by aiming a return up towards...
