Ok, I get that the term is not used correctly but the levels of chlorine that are required to effectively sanitize the pool at high levels of cya are almost always too hard to achieve and the easiest way to explain it to the lay person is indeed lock….

I agree. I find that most pool owners and several so called maintenance companies do not understand pool chemistry. Chlorine lock is a real issue for cya applications. Trichlor tablets are a huge issue down this way and before the “shortage” I found almost every pool I inspected or consulted...
