    Winterizing a sand filter.

Oh also, you would probably want to remove the sight glass if it has one as well. Mine usually has nothing but antifreeze in it from when I dump down the pipes so I tend to just leave (forget about) it :p .

    Winterizing a sand filter.

My sand filter is in an unheated garage (Get's well below freezing but still technically inside). I just open the drain at the bottom, set it to winter setting and disconnect the pipes. Each of my pipes has a union and elbow just before the multiport valve. I disconnect them at the unions, point...

Leave return open? Safety mesh cover (AGP)

Yeah my pumps actually in my garage piped underground (will be fully disconnected and lines blown out) so this may not apply. With that said, If I understand you correctly this would be a bit of a U shape? Coming from the (outside) pool wall down to the pad and then back up to the height of...

Safety cover on an above ground pool questions/advice.

heh yeah. It definitely seems like a rather unique setup. I have to take cues from above AND in ground closing steps. :-P I think I have my plan: - Keep the mesh safety cover as it had been working well on the old pool. - Keep the return open with some extra piping to direct the water away...

Leave return open? Safety mesh cover (AGP)

Thanks for the feedback! I think I'm going to try this. I attached a picture to demonstrate a cross section of the pool wall with return. A slightly improved method than what I was doing in the past with it just open and pvc draining out on the outside. Will allow me to keep the max water...

Leave return open? Safety mesh cover (AGP)

Does anyone do this with an above ground pool? (Or maybe leave the skimmer open on the bottom?) To let the excess water just drain out (down to the return port level) as it accumulates over winter with snow melt and rain. When I opened our pool the very first time I found the return open (from...

Safety cover on an above ground pool questions/advice.

We replaced our 18'x33' (48" or 52" depth) above ground pool this spring with a new 54" deep pool. The previous pool seemed pretty old, came with the house (we've had it 3 years) and to make a long story short… the side blew out over the winter. 1.) Is this safety cover ok to be installed on...
