PSI for Sandfilter Never Seems to Increase

Thanks @Jimrahbe, that's correct. @Rocket J Squirrel, sorry I didn't clarify. I meant, that I never see pressure increase in the days/weeks following a backwash. When in reality, I'm probably just not giving it enough time to actually capture enough funk to start reflecting an increase in the...

PSI for Sandfilter Never Seems to Increase

Thanks @Jimrahbe... I'm ashamed to say I get an itchy trigger finger about once every two weeks. o_O And I feel guilty each time I do it and regret after the fact! I'm also mindful of the fact I'm not helping the sand's efficiency by clearing out that space between the grains. I'll just do my...

PSI for Sandfilter Never Seems to Increase

Hi everyone! In a nutshell, I feel like I've never seen my gauge increase more than few PSI following a backwash. It runs around 16psi --- and can stay that way for weeks. Invariably, I get antsy and choose to backwash even though water flow from the returns feels good. Could this just be a...

Keeping pool open in winter in Nashville, TN

Thought I would resurrect this thread. Also in Nashville and thinking about doing to same. Would really enjoy being able to take a brisk dip on New Years day. It's not uncommon to close the pool, then deal with unseasonably warm days and the water gets very funky. I do not have a cover. But if...

    What's your current pool temp?

78 in Nashville after some recent rain showers. Ran the heater a few times over the past couple of weekends for the wimps.

What did you do to your pool today?

Replaced my Hayward T-cell-3 salt cell for the first time. Also finally got around to replacing the water temp sensor that's been shorted out for years. No more dummy light! For any future googlers, I noticed my salt level readings were wayyy off (0400 ppm vs 3300 ppm) and amperage was crazy...

    Not another light replacement post?!

It's a "Toveenen" 40 watt. Can't remember how I settled on it because there's other options in the same price range. I think the overall reviews and specs just seemed better. $130 on Amazon.

    Not another light replacement post?!

Got it knocked out today! I'm pretty impressed with the LED replacement bulb. The Astrolite fit the niche perfectly. Feels good knowing if this bulb goes out, I can easily replace it for a reasonable amount vs. getting the colorlogic for $1k and worried it would go out in a couple of years.

    Not another light replacement post?!

@jbird0215 - Thanks again for the advice. Ordered the Astrolite this morning! Also got a fancy color changing LED per the wife's request. Not sure I can bring myself to crack it open and take out the OEM bulb but we'll see! Thanks for looking out for fellow Nashville pool fools.

That's the best suggestion yet. Thank you!

    Not another light replacement post?!

Alas, here I am. My Hayward Color logic 4.0 (SP0527LED50) died last season and we really missed fun night swimming and the ambient light. I just pulled it out this afternoon and found it's been hiding a TON of funky algae back there which might explain the seemingly random blooms I periodically...
