I asked about this, the pool factory told me it was only necessary if your soil is sandy.

Yeah mine says don’t backfill until it’s full. I imagine whatever you have underneath would have a good chance of washing out. Nightmare scenario. The tropics have been wreaking havoc this year already lol.

My pool install manual is calling for 3” of sand. My pool liner install manual install is calling for 2” of sand. It makes sense to me to follow the liner install, but would like to know if anyone else has faced this dilemma. Thanks!

Would like to know this too, and would like to know the equivalent of 3” of sand in foam. I’ve seen it doesn’t compress as much. Would like to know if you can get away with 2” foam instead of 3” of sand.

Right I was going to have them dig it level and then compact it. Is this a no no? The instructions say to put the crushed rock around the basin 2” deep with a foot on each side of the pool wall
