What pool filter do you use?

Sand. Purchased an oversized filter (TA-60) and a 2 speed pump (3/4 hp) after recommendation from TFP. With pump running on low speed for the solar all day, I get a nice warm and clean pool with little maintenance. Backwash about once a month usually using excess rain water. It was very easy to...

EWWWWW! Insect eggs on my liner!

AnnaK, I am about 40 miles from where you are, and I don't have those. I do use Borax in my pool (50 ppm). Have you tried that? I certaily emphasis with the biting fly issue. They're nasty suckers! Jason M

    Installing AG pool need advice!!!

I just finished my AGP install and can comment on a few of these questions. As for the pump cord, 3ft is max length per the electrical code where I live. I also had to use a twist lock outlet. Make sure your outlet is a GFCI. No extension cords allowed (per NEC). I used Sched 40 PVC for most...

Flow rate increase: change solar from series to parallel

This is a followup to my posting about Power consumption of 2 spd pump. This post is not a question. Its intended to be my findings through testing and hopefully it will be usefull to others. I finally got around to measuring the flow rate before and after changing my solar installation from...

    What's this waterbug? (pic)

This little bugger was really fast when in the water. He occasionally came up for air, and when I tried to slap him, he dove to the bottom. I finally got him with the net, and got a picture. He didn't fly away, and in fact acted helpless out of the water. I keep my borates at 50, so not sure...

    Does bleach go bad?

I would like to thank hamop78 for instructions for testing my bleach! I found the generic brand (walmart) to have exactly as advertised (6%). Then tested my pool store which supposedly sells 12.5%. I was surprised that I got 17%. I thought it was a little expensive but convenient. Now I know I...

Anybody using these 252 LED Ebay bulbs in their pool?

720 Lumens is a little less than a 60 watt Incandescent light bulb. However LED's have highly directional light output. So they may appear to have a brigher intensity IF you can direct the light where you want it.

Power consumption of 2 spd pump measured with and w/o solar

There seems to be a lot of talk these days about saving electricity. And rightly so! Electric rates have gone way up, and people are starting to feel it in their checkbooks! I thought this to be appropriate for the "deep-end". (Even though I don't have one :( ) I have learned so much here at...

    Purchasing AGP on internet

My AGP build I purchased my pool on the Internet in February, and this is my experience. Bought from almontpool.com a Sharkline 15x30 buttress free. By far, the hardest part of the whole experience was leveling the ground. I hired a contractor to dig out part of the hill, and level to within 2...

    Power questions for SWCG

Hi All, I am running power for my AGP and have a few questions about SWCG. 1. Should I run SWCG on the same circuit as the pump? (My pump is 120v and 8.8 Amps max running on a 20A GFCI circuit) 2. Should the SWCG be on a timer or always powered? I'm planning to run my pump 12 hours per day...

    Improvements to Pool Calculator

I was playing on the beta pool calc, I set my pool volume to 13000 gal. All other items set to 0, except PH: Set the "Now PH" to 6.8 and Goal to 7.4. This gave me a recommendation of 16oz by volume of borax. When I set the Goal to 8.8, it gave me the same result. Possible bug? JasonM
