Shocking after finding a dead animal

Lol my dogs are in there often. I know the concept but my head just won't convert out of the need to shock. I am down to just shocking when dead animals are found or we have a big party but it's a bit mental hurdle for me. I guess I just wanted to come and hear everyone say it's OK. I'm getting...

Shocking after finding a dead animal

Ah I see your confusion lol....I guess in my mind it's all slam as opposed to what I was doing last year. But yeah I'm not actively in the process of slam. Just maintaining my fc levels between 4 and 6.

Shocking after finding a dead animal

With a 30 cya level it says 4-6 fc is ideal correct? Today I just tested and it was 5.5 with a cc of less than .5. 12 is what you keep it at when slamming correct? At least that's what I understood it as. This is my first year of doing the SLAM way. I was a new pool owner when I first joined and...

Shocking after finding a dead animal

Ok on my TFP Calculator Correct. However after finding dead animals and big parties we normally will shock the pool. Otherwise I use the test kit and the TFP calculator and add chemicals as suggested per the calculator. We have never had an issue with this. My cya levels are 30 and the...

Shocking after finding a dead animal

Looked over the pool care basics again just to make sure and I'm doing everything as recommended....except I do test my cya weekly since it's on the minimum range.

Shocking after finding a dead animal

Does that bother anyone with sensitive skin? Highest I keep it is around 5 but I add liquid chlorine so it fluctuates and gets lower before I add some the next day.

Shocking after finding a dead animal

It's just what I read to do and it kind of gives me some peace of mind a bit lol

Shocking after finding a dead animal

Yes. It is normally at a 3-5 but I was out there adding in the daily chlorine and cleaning skimmers when I found it. So it will have its boost and be back up to at least 3. It wasn't severely decomposed. Skimmers get checked once a day at least so it has been there a day at the most. Cya at last...

Shocking after finding a dead animal

Normally we shock after finding a mouse or a bird or what have you, however this year we have been getting small frogs coming up dead in the skimmer. Today my chlorine is at 2 and ph is 7.5. Do I have to shock it after each small frog? I feel like we aren't getting to use our pool as much bc its...

    In line auto chlorinator

I will sound like an idiot here bc we just bought this house last year and I've only ever used the jumbo tabs, for a 50,000 gallon pool what is the average daily amount of chlorine I would have to add? I know weather plays a big part along with usage and other stuff, but just curious to see how...

    In line auto chlorinator

We are wanting an Inline chlorinator but our PVC pipe that we would be installing it on comes from the filter at a downward angle. Is it ok for the chlorinator to be slightly tilted or will it not work unless its level? TIA

    Large hole in vinyl liner

It's an old liner. We just bought the house last year. We planned on replacing it next year. So if we can get it to just hold over the summer that would be great.

    Large hole in vinyl liner

Our dog fell into our inground pool and sadly ripped a hole in the corner about 2 feet wide and 18 inches deep. part of it is underwater while part is above the water line. How should we patch this? we went to watsons and bought a repair kit, but then we had to glue several pieces together and...
