Thanks for the reply. It's not to an external timer or anything else if that's what you mean?

New Motor or nah swap the whole pump..

So our 10-year-old Pentair Superflo VS looks like she's done as the motor started running way louder than usual to the point we turned it off as we were going away for a week. Now that we're back to our green pool and the pump is still noisy we think it's time to upgrade. There is a sticker on...

    Ancient filter ready for retirement

I acquired a Pentair filter with my house that may have been original to the pool build in the 80s. It is a DE filter that is starting to leak. I'm thinking of changing to sand filter. Is there anything I need to be aware of that might affect that decision? Ideally, I'd like something easier...

    DE filter question/help

Upon review of your notes, my filter has never had an O ring on the up-pipe. I looked at a manual for the Pentair 4000 and I can see where you got that. Mine appears to be older than that, Purex Pentair and looks more like this one, although this one is only a 2000: Purex SM and SMBW 2000...

    DE filter question/help

I cleaned my filter today and rinsed the grids. I checked the grids and could only see one that might have the tiniest of tears on it, so I replaced it. When I started it back up, I started to put the DE in it and it started coming out into the pool. I took everything apart and we checked it...

Question about lowering TA and strange Ph readings

Ooh, thanks. My bad for the terminology. I haven't been on the site in awhile as I have been doing OK with the balancing. :) I will read up on the Overnight Chlorine Loss test. As for the Ph, yes, I have to add fill water every 3 days or so. I will keep working on the Ph. Appreciate your response.

Question about lowering TA and strange Ph readings

Hi there I have a plaster pool that was redone in early 2019 and everything has been OK with it. I just "reopened" meaning fully cleaned my DE filter, vacuumed all the Crud and started prepping for summer swimming. When I started, the first thing I did was get work on the CYA knowing it was an...

Help with balancing pool plaster startup

Hi and thanks for your reply. No stabilizer or conditioner was added (did not see that under the instructions for traditional or acid startup) yet. Those instructions did mention not adding chlorine until the dust was gone and its not. Plaster is still less than a week old.

Help with balancing pool plaster startup

Hi again I posted a few days ago as we just started up the pool after getting it plastered last Monday. Per the plaster guy, he told us to start the pump and run it 24 hours a day. We also were told to add acid which we have been doing, keeping it below the recommended numbers. We are brushing...

URGENT assistance on new plaster start up

I would have thought the same thing you said - the pump running so the acid can move around - I read it on pool school (Acid Start up V Traditional startup - tried to attach not sure if it worked). The plaster company didn't say anything but turn on the pump and run 24 hours a day. Our guy...
