    D/FW People: closing pool

Texaspool128, Last year was my first year and I did not really close it. I only added chlorine some, and still ran pump some (pretty minimally). I checked chlorine once a week or so but never added once it got really chilly. I did run my pump 24/7 when temps got at or below freezing. I did...

If you live in DFW near the Atwood’s in Lake Worth, they are fresh out. Super bummed here.

    Large Daily Chlorine Loss

You can add the amount you need to get to the level you want and do another test after the addition so you don’t risk it. Maybe wait 30 minutes and see where you are after the chlorine addition. ETA: for your SWG pool with a CYA of 80 you minimum CL level is 4 per the chart.

    Large Daily Chlorine Loss

I have had had to do a SLAM with what I thought was crystal clear water and 0 cc because I had an algae bloom that I was barely keeping at bay. Never saw anything green, but the water got extra clear after a 4 day SLAM.

Here are my stats - what next?

Hgr1969, I was in the same boat as you last year when I bought my house in September (My Cya was 200+). I did a water exchange as suggested by someone here to get my CYA under 100 so we could swim for the last bit of the season and then over the course of the winter did a few more of those...

High daily uv chlorine loss/cya level

Thanks. I don’t have a SWG so I’m manually dosing. One day I’ll upgrade. Unfortunately I didn’t keep up well enough with the daily losses and my water this morning was just a bit hazy. Not cloudy, and I could see the bottom perfectly, but not TFPC sparkling so I’ve started another SLAM...

    High FC burn off rate?

I just posted a similar thread to yours, as I am in the same boat. The change in consumption happened kind of quickly so, I too, wondered if something was going on.

High daily uv chlorine loss/cya level

Good afternoon everyone, Just curious what those of you who are in super sunny, hot areas like me (Dallas/Fort Worth) keep your CYA level at. I'm currently at 50 and thinking about bumping mine up to 60ppm, but don't want to get into any trouble with overstabilization. My pool is in full sun...

Tail end of SLAM, can I get in to brush and remove light?

SLAMming is a fun process! 😎Good luck with your OCLT! I hope I don't have to ever do it again. My husband was surprised at all the chlorine I was using and kept questioning what I was doing and if I was doing it right. I didn't even think about anything being in the light until I read the...

Tail end of SLAM, can I get in to brush and remove light?

That's exactly what I did. 🙂 No visible algae in the light, and I honestly couldn't believe how clear the water was! I must have never been algae free! There was a ton of dirt and concrete chunks, though, I guess from when it was built. But it got a good scrubbing and I am doing one more day of...

Tail end of SLAM, can I get in to brush and remove light?

Morning all, I just passed my OCLT, but am still keeping FC high because I haven’t taken the light out and scrubbed it. Is it safe to get in the water at shock level to do this? I’ve been brushing at least 2x per day, if not more. I had a small algae bloom, and it’s funny because I just...

    2019 Bleach Prices

Not the cheapest around, but my local Walmart just stocked gallons of 10% that is super fresh. Date of 19145. That puts it at end of May. They are 3.64/ gal.
