    Ok...I put 1 gallon of muriatic acid in last night. I came home today and tested it and it's still at 425...yes, I am on well water and it is the same. pH is the same today too... Crazy thing about all of this is that the water is very clear...not cloudy, no signs of scaling or anything...

    Soo....I got my special test kit today and tested the alkalinity. I performed the test as directed. I put 24 drops of the r-0009 solution in and it still didn't change to red. It started to make little changes (like in the video), but never actually changed. I didn't want to waste the reagant so...

    Thank you all for your help on this. FYI- i hadn't just dumped the gallon into one area of the pool. I had walked around the pool gently pouring in a stream from the jug.
