Owner Builder SLC - Slow and steady progress

Another small update as I get closer and closer to finishing the landscaping. I got the hardscape lights installed on my retaining walls - still a bit of cleanup with the wires on the back side, but I love how they turned out! I wasn't sure how to prepare for these needing to be replaced in...

CYA reading at 0 after adding 14 lbs.

@mknauss - I used a few pounds of stabilizer I got from Leslies last year, then some clorox brand conditioner. I have the TF-Pro with Salt test kit. I'll update my signature. @Texas Splash - Good ideas, and you sound like you may be right. Can algae/bacteria consume CYA?

CYA reading at 0 after adding 14 lbs.

Yes, I'm sure there's no leak. Auto-fill isn't actually hooked up yet, and I'm losing an inch or so every couple of weeks though evaporation and splashing out. Salt and CH levels have been stable. Last year I was running my SWG at 20% and maintaining levels fine. This year I've been running at...

CYA reading at 0 after adding 14 lbs.

I should also add, a few days after it was added it seemed to be around 30. The water is definitely much clearer now in the tube than it was a couple weeks ago. (maybe goes back to reagent being bad??)

It was added mid-May, so it has been several weeks. Added with the sock method. Took a day or two to fully dissolve. My re-agent is about a year old. I forgot to mention that - I was going to ask how long that will stay good for. May just need to get some new reagent.

Is there anything that would be consuming CYA? When I opened the pool this year, tests were showing very little CYA. I figured it had just been consumed/degraded over winter. I added 14lbs of dry stabilizer, which should have increased my CYA to 42. I have been struggling keeping my chlorine...

New Stonescapes Mini Pebble- Run pump for up to 28 days?!

Do you have a picture of it? With a new build it should be variable speed. I am a fan of running a pump at low speed 24x7, as are many on here, and do that on my pool (I run mine at about 1500 rpm). Like Jim said, if you can, I would lower the speed and do that. You'll save a ton on energy costs...

TF Test Kit - Smart Stirs going bad

Replaced the batteries on mine this year when I opened the pool. It does work, but I have to hold the button down - seems like I used to just press it and it would spin until I hit the button again. Am I mis-remembering that, or is there something wrong? I wasn't going to bother, but I'll email...

Owner Builder SLC - Slow and steady progress

Picking back up this from the fall. I opened the pool up a week and a half ago without too much trouble. Pool was still clear, and the chemicals were pretty good except for the PH, which was very high at around 9.2. I added 4 gallons of MA to bring it down, and things are looking good. I did...
