Gas vs electric 13k gallon pool

Looking for recommendations in our specific situation for pool heaters for our new pool. We are in the northeast and are having a 24' round pool installed April 24. At 4 feet deep, I'm estimating 13,500 gallons. Any specific recommendations for quality pool heaters are appreciated! Electric We...

You're talking online retailers? I'm considering buying from my local pool store but their prices are much higher. But their installers will also level the whole area, I think they use sand, put together the whole pool, connect all lines, etc. 24' round was around $7,800 + $1,200 install. Oval...

    Decisions, decisions...

I'd have to assume the Gibraltar pool. Rep indicated they do not need to be winterized, as the lines were built with materials that tolerate winter freezing, etc. I'm also wondering how long the pool store pool will actually last. They claimed they knew of owners with 20 year old pools but my...

    Temporary pools more algae prone?

Thanks. Ya the $35k is more for all the decking around the pool. Contractors around here would probably charge me $35k for the deck alone,

Gotcha. Yeah, we aren't moving anytime soon. But I like your strategy. I grew up with an inground pool. It was awesome. Pops filled it in after he spent a lot of money diagnosing an underground leak and couldn't fix it. I offered to help pay for it and chemicals but he was done.

Lifetime. Never moving unless unable to get up stairs when I'm old. So 30+ years. I thought AGP's are supposed to last 10-20 years?

    Decisions, decisions...

I have a big decision to make. I suppose it's a personal decision but I'd appreciate any and all feedback from those that have either in ground or above ground pools. I want a nice pool but I don't want to break the bank. I'm finishing year 3 on my temporary 18' pool. I've faced problems with...

    Temporary pools more algae prone?

I just had an in-home presentation from this pool company with a better design. How much better would you say this is? Is it worth paying a lot more for the pool? The only problem is these pools come with large price tags due to their construction and walk around decks. Thanks

Chlorine pucks are enticing to me.

Good cautionary tale. I will stick with the liquid chlorine as advocated here. Maybe I will grab a bucket of pucks to use very sparingly in case of leaving for vacation or not able to add daily chlorine. You're right, I was paying $3.50 last year for the liquid chlorine at Walmart and this year...

    Temporary pools more algae prone?

So are you saying in ground pools have better circulation? Maybe it depends on design but I remember having a 16x32 with 2 jets, one in shallow end pointed sideways, one in deep end, spraying the length of the pool, and 1 skimmer. I suppose that is better, although there are probably better...

Chlorine pucks are enticing to me.

Oh I guarantee you're correct. He probably doesn't even know there's a recommended ratio. With that said, he was also very hesitant to any recommendation, despite me coming over last year with my Taylor test kit and showing him exactly how to test all his levels. He says "my pool is clear so I'm...

Chlorine pucks are enticing to me.

Hey all, TLDR: Are using chlorine pucks really that bad, if I keep my CYA and other levels within range? So after 3 years of temporary pools, I'm upgrading to a permanent AGP. I use the TFP methods, including adding liquid chlorine daily. My best friend is on year 2 of his permanent AGP and...
