Burning through Chlorine after Algae issue

Do you do the CYA test...with the tube/dot... in the direct sun, or in the shade? I would imagine one versus the other will influence the results

Burning through Chlorine after Algae issue

I took a water sample across the street to a pool store to confirm my readings were accurate - and everything is spot on except my CYA... which they tested at 95 (n)

Burning through Chlorine after Algae issue

I live in AZ and the temps here have been pretty hot (115 ish). I was out of town and when i returned my pool had a bit of algae starting to grow on the floor/walls late last week. Water didnt look too bad though. I have 4 pucks floating (i'm aware of the CYA implications). After a thorough...

    New Water Setup?

When i select the drop down on the FC section of the calculator, i get the following options - Dichlor - Trichlor - cal-hypo - lithium hypo - chlorine gas which should be used to calculate the FC using bleach/liquid chlorine?

    New Water Setup?

I'm currently refilling my pool, and will need to setup the water over the next couple days. I've been using the TF100 test kit for some time, however I have a question about this site's "PoolMath Calculator". My pool is 13k gallons, and I'll be adding some stabilizer to get the levels up to...

    High Chlorine Levels & CYA?

The pool water hasn’t been chlorinated since December (up until now). the reagents have been stored indoors in a cupboard for 2 years... just seems odd how far off everything is measuring

    High Chlorine Levels & CYA?

I i used the CYA test from the TF100 kit. Pulled the water from the pool this morning. Why would the FC test so high then if i only put in 2 gallons? Can the test kit/chemicals go bad? I’ve had the kit 2 years or so...

    High Chlorine Levels & CYA?

We had our pool resurfaced/new sand filter about 2 years ago. i haven’t kept up with any chemicals over the winter, and just started getting it ready for spring. The surface had a couple minor algae spots, so after a brush down/backwash i shocked the pool with 2 gallons of Hasa Sani-Clor. Jug...

    Battery/Rust Stain - now low TA/PH

I only checked FC, TA, and PH. Current Reading FC = 7 TA = 50 PH = 6.8 Previously FC = 7 TA = 110 PH = 7.6 CYA = 80 The plaster was chipped out and replaced with pebble back in May of this year. Any guidance to slowly raise the TA? I haven't had to do that before

    Battery/Rust Stain - now low TA/PH

Hello! About a week ago, my toddler tossed a battery powered toy gun into the pool, and the batteries ended up exploding overnight. It left our new pebble surface with a nice 12 inch rust stain. I called up the guy who resurfaced the pool, and he came by and somehow completely removed the...

    Slightly Cloudy Water/particles floating?

I was thinking the same thing about residual dust from the storms... initially i was worried it may have been the DE getting back through the sand and into the pool. Is that possible?

    Slightly Cloudy Water/particles floating?

My pool water started looking a bit cloudy about 3 days ago, and after testing the water, my PH looks spot on @ 7.5, however the FC was around 4, instead of my target of 7. We’ve had a number of big dust storms here in Phoenix over the past few weeks, so i also decided to backwash the filter...

First Test with TF100 Kit - How Am i Looking??

After having our pool remodeled (13,000 gallon) and all new equipment/sand filter installed, I decided to take the bull by the horns and wanted to stop leaving my fate to Leslie's Pools! :D Here's what i came up with during my first test with the TF100 kit; FC = 4 CC = .5 TC= 4.5 CH = 525 TA =...
