Thanks. Unfortunately, after my last post I went outside and just missed stepping on a cottonmouth despite my extensive snake prevention efforts (I'm severely phobic). To sum up my day: 3 hours cutting grass, migraine, crack in pool filter, cottonmouth. Worst birthday ever.

Yep, the new one comes with it, plus the special wrench to tighten it. Will be several days before it arrives, but believe me, at this point I can take that sucker apart and reassemble it in my sleep.

Sadly, tightening the bolt before securing the connector didn't help. Will continue to struggle with it this weekend.

Thanks, guys. The o-ring is on the underside of the port assembly where it makes contact with the top of the filter body. I can take it back apart and post pic when I get a chance. I've already replaced the o-ring and lubed it, though not with sealant, made sure surfaces were free of...

The port assembly itself isn't threaded. It sits on the filter body and the black flange at the top is rotated to tighten, then the bolt in the flange is tightened.
