Re plaster or repaint? Pool Poll

Hopefully all of the paint and hollow base were removed prior to plastering, $3100 for all of that is a tremendous deal. As long as that was the case you will benefit from this choice for years.

    Resurfacing concrete deck

Depending on the damage of the patio, you can repair the deeper grooves with a hydraulic cement. At that point I would consider if it's in your budget some Convoy II deck coating...it is slip resistant and comes in a variety of colors if you like. You can not simply mix up a thin layer of...

Just bought house with pool---probably hasn't been opened in 3 years...

Drain the pool with a trash pump unless it has rained a lot or is going too....get some gloves, trash bags and a power washer and you will be done in a few hours. The other benefit of this is you can visually inspect your pool surface to better answer future questions (paint type of paint etc)...

    Painting a pool

Painting a pool is 70% Preperation, 25% quality materials, 5% a guy with a roller. Be sure to perform a 3 step chemical wash (tsp-acid-tsp) for your surface I would use a gunzite primer from Olympic and also Olympic epoxy paint. If you do this and do it to spec, you will get a solid 5-6...

    Auto Cover track question.

I'm a small pool construction company and a homeowner is wanting his auto cover trek to be along the top of the pool wall basically with mortar and coping stone on top. Has anyone actually done this? Will he have issues with cracking in the mortar? I removed the old coping and to get the new...

    Alright Guru's.....

I will be chipping out all the fittings and using hydraulic cement to fill the gaps. My bid was to fix the 2 cracks he had in the Spa and DB the shell. I did what I was supposed to do, but I'm going to fix this for free. Lesson learned for me??? Always have your own leak detection performed...

    Alright Guru's.....

Findings with the detection are water is going in through the detachable eyeball fitting and seeping behind where the plumbing meets the gunite in 2 spots. How common is this?

    Alright Guru's.....

No hydrostatic valve, the elevation is certainly high though. 12 return jets that disconnect, 2 main drain lines, 2 waterfall suction lines, 1 skimmer and a partridge in a pear tree.. Leak detection in shell scheduled for Thursday, its Ohio so im subbing that out. Will keep you guy's posted...

    Alright Guru's.....

Tile and plaster sub contractor, this gunite spa is giving me fits.

    Alright Guru's.....

Also he has ball fittings that disconnect from the wall, it has been suggested by early detection company locally that water could be leaking from where the fitting goes into the Poormon beyond the diamond bright but I'm not so sure

    Alright Guru's.....

This is a stand alone spa,yes on the niche and conduit. I just dont see how the water could penetrate my plaster immediately like that. I guess getting in there with some dye would make sense im just confused on the placement of the moisture

    Alright Guru's.....

Homeowner insisted a do mybest to patch it up and plaster (he had already bought material) hoping to get another season out of this before he blows it up and we re construct. I 'V' grinded cracks and primed and polyurethaned them and replastered. He is losing water still behind a fitting where...

    Alright Guru's.....

Yes, for the most part the cracks are near the plumbing. I explained to the homeowner that I had no long term solution for such a poorly built structure.

    Alright Guru's.....

Correct, not required. The spa has never been closed down and ran all year so no freeze issues....I'm guessing just a horrible job is the reason for this. I will be back Friday to do more work to the spa and I will snap some more pictures. Thanks
