    Chalky residue on pool sides

It's good paint-- best available, not water-based. Chalking was apparently caused by "harsh shocking" and low alkalinity. It is recommended that keeping the alkalinity on the high side (175 ppm) helps prevent chalking. Since this is above the troublefreepool recommendation I was asking if I...

    Chalky residue on pool sides

I found on another site that if the pool paint is chalking then the total alkalinity is too low and should be raised to 150 or above. Anyone see any problems with this?

    Chalky residue on pool sides

Everything has a fresh coat of epoxy paint on it so I thought I was good for a season. I can add calcium but any ideas what the chalky residue is? It was not apparent until recently.

    Chalky residue on pool sides

FC 11 CC 0 pH 7.5 T/A 100 CYA 75 CH 0 Water is clear enough to see bottom drain at 8' but I wouldn't call it sparkling. FC is coming down from mustard algae shock at 40 due to high CYA. I didn't add calcium as i didn't expect leaching. Dave

    Chalky residue on pool sides

Hi, I've been using the BBB method all this season and couldn't be happier. I'm puzzled by a chalky residue that covers the sides of my pool. How long to run filtering?

Hi, I have a 20000 gallon in ground pool with a 1.5 hp motor and sand filter. How long should I run the motor during every 24 hour period and is it best to run it at night or in the day? Thanks, Dave

    Using Chlorine Tabs

Thanks all. I do have a good test kit as I ordered the TF-100 test kit. I like the idea of saving the trichlor tabs for vacations, etc. so will start off with bleach. Having gotten TA, Ph and Chlorine in range my challenge next is bringing up the CYA and Calcium. Seems like quite a bit of CYA...

    Using Chlorine Tabs

Hi, I've just finished painting my pool and it is now being filled with fresh clean water. I'm happy to have found this site and forum and will be following the BBB system this summer. However, I have some chlorine tabs left over from last season. Would there be any problem with me using them...
