    Main drain bowl crack

On a previous post, I had a leak detection company come out. They found a leak in the skimmer and and repaired it with epoxy. However the pool was still leaking so I call a different company. They found that one of the bowls of the main drain was cracked. They do not do repairs, but said that...

I need some help on selecting a new skimmer weir gate. I had a leak in my pool, and the leak detection people determined that the throat of the skimmer was cracked. He repaired it with epoxy and now the old weir gate will not fit. The holes where it pivoted are filled with epoxy. The guy...

Replacing single speed motor with a variable one

You will have to match frame. Look at the name plate of your existing motor and it should specify frame. Then find a variable speed motor with the same horsepower and frame. It should fit. Lacking that you could also go to a two speed motor.

    Need advice on crack

Still have trouble finding a company to repair the pool. one of the issues, I think is the removal of the coping blocks. No easy way to do that. I an thinking: 1. What does a new automation panel cost?

I have a Hayward AquaPlus system that is 15 years old. Replaced the salt cell three times, and replaced the main board once. Still working great. Biggest issue is when the salt cell starts to go out. Several different things may happen: Won't maintain chlorine level, low salt reading etc...

    Need advice on crack

I am beginning to see the repair issue. It looks like the leak repair companies all use epoxy to fix cracks. It was suggested to look for pool remodeling companies to perform a more permanent repair. ajw22: The pavers need to be removable because every several years I have to remove them to...

Is a "passive" solar heat coil worth it?

What you are looking for is surface area of the tubing. Smaller tubing, more surface area. Heat transfer is all about surface area. More area, more heat.

    Need advice on crack

Ok, some news. One company has responded. They want to remove the tile around crack (good), and then inject epoxy into the crack to stabilize it. I'm not sure about that approach. Wait on more responses. The pavers are tight together. Under the pavers is sand. I believe that the pavers are...

Is a "passive" solar heat coil worth it?

I have a roof mounted solar panel array. By mid day my water temperature is 90. It is fed by diverting some of the return flow from the filter through the solar array. Again the area of solar panels is about the same as the surface area of the pool.

    Need advice on crack

It is possible via the pavers. The concrete foot of the house does not extend beyond the sides of the column. I can probably dig up some photos taken during the construction if that would help.

    Need advice on crack

When constructed, the base was a thin layer of crushed concrete. The area in question has had a amount of subsidence over the years. No it is just leveling sand. However I agree that it looks like the pavers are the root cause. I am currently looking for a company to come and make repairs. The...
