Hayward SP1070F float valve is too big, but the o-ring is right size?

I've bought two float valves now trying to get a replacement and both are too big for my skimmer, but just barely - it feels like 1/8" to 1/16" too large to drop flush in the little fins around the o-ring seat. The lid looks original, and is marked as a Hayward 1070, but there are no identifying...

Seriously green and sludgey for months - Safe after cleaning?

DE here also. My swamp took a LOT of net scooping, backwashing , and 4 teardown and full cleanings of the grids to get to mostly clear (still silty spots to vacuum today). Also saw pressure double about 20 to 30 minutes after backwashing when the de gets gummed up with algae debris.

Possible ways to capture DE when pumping to waste?

My sewer is pretty far from the pump and not really possible to get a discharge line to. I usually pump backwash into the yard but the DE is adding up in the soil. Is there a way to capture the de to dispose of separately? Is there a device available or anyone know of any diy methods?

You're probably right. I am just running the pump enough to clear the water up so I can see the bottom, then I'll remove my grids and vacuum to waste.

I'm filtering the suspended debris now so I can see the bottom to see just how bad it is, if it's thick I plan to go ahead and vacuum to waste. I have read the Pool School content in the past, and I absolutely love this site!

Seriously green and sludgey for months - Safe after cleaning?

I had pump and electrical issues for quite some time, causing my pool to sit stagnant for most of winter. I've gotten everything repaired, and I'm starting SLAM. The algae got so bad, it's got a huge build up of sludge in the bottom. One 8-10ft scoop over the bottom with the net nearly fills the...
