    CYA test results comparison

An interesting comparison. We started with a CYA of 50. Then added pounds and pounds of dichlor shock over three days to start our SLAM. Tested for CYA using TF-100, strips, and took a sample to Leslie's. Just to see what they got. Results: TF-100= CYA 100 Strips = CYA 80 Leslie's = CYA 134...

    Multi-lever o-ring leaking.

It needs to be redone with proper unions anyway. PVC work don't scare me much. The thing is, I was gonna redo it, then a friend offered and I said ok. He did a beautiful job, but it's all hard plumbed in, no unions. Now I have a leak. possibly because of the plumbing he did , I guess.

    Multi-lever o-ring leaking.

It's the clamp. Don't think there's gonna be much room without removing the plumbing.

    Multi-lever o-ring leaking.

Just finished our SLAM, overnight test looking good, and notice a trickle leak around my multi-lever on top of my sand filter. No problem to lube it or even replace it except... when the guy just redid all my PVC, he didn't put threaded unions in like I had assumed he would. So now, gotta cut...

    Low pressure

Ahhh, I'll try this. That appears to be the same model pump I have, also.

    Low pressure

If it's not one thing it's something else. Almost done with a SLAM... Our normal presssure is running 10-14 lbs. then we backwashed, cleaned the baskets vacuummed with a plate in the skimmer., without the skimmer basket (!) then next day vaccumed again, without the plate, with the hose in our...

Trying to understand this crazy skimmer

Update: pipe is gone, skimmer is working fine, There was a weir that the pipe was defeating. I think that was it's purpose. To defeat the weir.

Trying to understand this crazy skimmer

It kind of resolved the decision for me. We decided to vacuum using the skimmer inlet without the round adapter plate, the pvc pipe decided to reposition itself inside the skimmer, with the hose still going through it. So we just took it out for a while. The skimmer appears to be working fine.

Trying to understand this crazy skimmer

I looked at it from the inside, it's definitely sleeved, i.e., it's a double walled and one slides in and out of the other, as though you could "adjust" the length and maybe change the performance of the skimmer? I think I'll just remove it and see.

Trying to understand this crazy skimmer

The skimmer port, or inlet hole (the rectangular hole in the side of my pool where water enters the skimmer) is normally rectangular on all I can see or find. It appears that the previous homeowner stuck a piece of 4" round pvc into that rectangular inlet hole on mine, giving a very strange...

    Muliport valve damage?

Everything looks fine so we we continued our cleanup the next day, multiple backwash, rinse, and ran some waste. It all looks good. Was wondering what to check for as far as damage. I think we're ok. She was fretting that she had done something wrong.Thanks.
