Just how smart are robots, anyway?

I'm trying to believe that my Blue Diamond...which works amazingly well BTW...has some sophisticated smarts as all the robotic manufacturers want you to think...but I can't see how it's pattern is any "smarter" than a 280. I've only had it a few days but it still seems completely random. Most of...

HELP! Jets so low they are really air/water enemas...

So again I'm back to my plumber nightmare...this is the last issue (I hope). Our spa jets were installed about 3" above the spa seats. At best they hit you just above the base of the spine (below lumbar though) and at worst...well...you understand. Add to this that the plumber installed 8 jets...

Looking for a PA builder towards western PA

I have some questions about how you run your business, licensing, insurance, etc. I'm thinking of getting into the business in the eastern part of the state. :hammer:

    Aquabot Turbo T Jet

Anyone have experience with this? It seems simpler than the tracked robotics and maybe even better for larger freeform gunite pools... http://aquaproducts.com/turbotjet.htm I'm thinking this and a PoolBlaster would be a nice, reliable large pool cleaning solution for less than $1000. I'm not...

    Spa blower check valve

Thanks, waterbear...my hero as always. My blower is mounted 18" above waterline...do I still need a check valve?

    Spa blower check valve

My 1.5 hp spa blower seems to be hampered by my Lowes purchased spring check valve. Leaving the valve in place produces fair bubbling and a nice moaning sound from the valve. Locking the valve open with a small screwdriver produces better results. I have to assume the complete removal would be...

    New pool needs new cleaner

I have to think that far ahead...cuz it usually takes me that long to make my decision! Don't worry...soft brush vac head will be used exclusively in the beginning.

    New pool needs new cleaner

My new pool is going to need a cleaner, and this has been one heck of a difficult decision to make. Help! My modestly freeform IG pool is about 1,000 sq. ft, 31,000 gallons with a spa. 9' deep end, 3' shallow with a sun shelf and about 30' of bench and steps. Walls are less than 90 degrees in...

So why no swimming during plaster break-in period?

Normal startup...we're at the 72 hour mark now. I don't have the plasterer's instructions in front of me, so not sure if they had any remarks on when you could go in. I don't remember any specific given.

So why no swimming during plaster break-in period?

So when is the plaster (Diamond Brite in this case) cured well enough for light traffic...and when is it ok to let the kids bring toys in?

Where do you get large quantities of BS?

Thanks...will look into that. My wife is at the local grocers now, probably putting 22 16 oz boxes on the conveyor. Gotta do what ya gotta do. As for PB BS...I "built" my pool myself, and I regularly spouted BS to my wife regarding the build. Must be part of the process.

Where do you get large quantities of BS?

Our 30,000g new plaster IG is at 50ppm for TA...meaning we need 22lbs of baking soda to get it to 80. Where do you get large quantities of BS? (Don't answer "Washington")

Heat pump or natural gas heater?

How do you use your heater now? Heat pumps tend to sell more in the southern parts of the US where temps are more even and owners maintain temps rather than heating for a weekend party then letting the pool cool over the week. Running a heat pump to bring a 65 degree pool to 80 would take a...

    deanrinehart's Bethlehem, PA IG Build

Water held overnight and pool chemistry is doing the normal up/down crazyness. New board and stand will be up today so I can install that tonight. Also got the proper tool/seals for the spa jets so I can get the blower going. Since I couldn't fully install the jets, water pressure from the...
