    Someone must make this?

BTW - I ended up getting a new Onkyo - a step up from the system I had already adding remote speakers, bluetooth and WiFi. I now remember why I didn't like a prior Onkyo with remote speakers... they do seem to make running them a chore - to me, much less than intuitive. But we worked it out...

    Someone must make this?

THANKS. Those solutions make perfect sense and hit a range of price points. I see why I had been blind to them actually... a while back I got a bluetooth adapter for my older ONKYO and it turned out to be junk, so I was kind of sour on bluetooth to amps. Our most recent set of media upgrades...

    Someone must make this?

OK... from years ago when I built the patio enclosure around my pool I put in speaker wire back to a central point. More recently I wired up some outdoor speakers to the wire. I figured - oh this will be easy, just buy an amp and we will have music at the pool. For a long time we made due...

    iAqualink 1.0 reprogram

I had not thought about security and usb drivers... the entire thing is just a little old and a bit of a pain so I bit the bullet and hard wired it. Working now. I had been stumped on getting an ethernet jumper out there and really perplexed by how to connect the rj45 and close the cover...

    iAqualink 1.0 reprogram

my old 802.11a/b router finally gave up the ghost and a few months later my wife mentioned the pool won't connect any more. OK easy fix... I need to figure out how to reprogram the wifi connection to the new router. Well... not so easy I find. My iAqualink is a few year old now and I needed...

    Cartridge filter threads binding

Still not completely clear what happened here but the silicon spray did the trick. The surfaces had no substantial wear or dirt but after a couple sprays and a little cleaning the assembly turned easily and locked fine. Thanks all. (And thanks for the warning about these things launching if...

    Cartridge filter threads binding

I've got to take a closer look in the light tomorrow. I was able to get the ring completely off and the two halves of the cylinder were still fit tight with the o-ring sealing. It took a bit to even get those separated. We did let this go a little longer between cleaning this time but not a...

    Cartridge filter threads binding

OK... say more please? What kind of failure mode is possible here and why are binding threads an indicator? The filter has a threaded slip ring that binds now, I'll inspect the threads again but they seem to have plenty of engagement and don't look stripped to me. I guess the fact they bind...

    Cartridge filter threads binding

The threaded collar that holds the halves of our filter together has gotten progressively harder and harder to operate. Initially it was just hard to assemble, but this time it was very hard to remove. I actually ended up using a block of wood and a hammer on it. I'm inclined to give it a bit...

    pebbletec"stained"

I had to see my own sig to realize this is actually a stonescapes not pebbletec btw. To clarify I don't actually find the darkening objectionable but the wife is worried so I am too. My first feeling IS that we are just seeing a little more stone now, but if it is a chemistry issue causing it...

    pebbletec"stained"

We've had our pool for a few years now (wow time flies)... and my wife has noticed that the horizontal surfaces are starting to develop darker spots in the pebbletec. She is going to call the guy who did the install but I'm curious of other ideas. To me it looks like the light colored...

    The deer are KILLING us

I just got the brilliant idea to read the ortho label and it has egg white, cinnamon and clove. I actually really like the way it smells. All the "deer candy" plants outside have been misted, now let's see... If this works out, I can likely get 3 applications per bottle so $10/bottle is fine...

    The deer are KILLING us

We did have a friend who took one with a crossbow a few years back. The rest didn't take the hint though.

    The deer are KILLING us

Our landscape is all outside the screen enclosure and apparently includes a couple bits of deer candy. Every few months they come through and strip several sections of all leaves. It was worse in the winter and at this point everything has (mostly) recovered and pushed new growth. I just...

    Outside Audio complete solution

Confirmed, the Onkyo SS takes the audio off the output so splitting the out leaves the TV outside muted. I think I'll just split my DVD off in front of the SS, the kids want to do a movie night and that would allow a crowd at the pool and a crowd inside. For now we have no good audio solution...
