Need to leave pool for 6 weeks, help please???

How cold does your pool get? I ignore my pool for quite a few weeks in FL winters, and it does get cloudy and a little algae, but Pool temps under 70 degrees keep it mostly under control. I just started dealing with it this past week, my ph was really high at 8, but a half jug of MA fixed that...

    Ongoing algae and HELP!!

Do you have a manual vac? Because I think you need to get the Crud off the bottom. Stuff sitting on the bottom of your pool can't get filtered out. Vac to waste if you can, and your filter won't even have to deal with it. Keep the chlorine at shock level as long as you can, and don't test...

Really basic chem question, excuse the pun...re acid...

Probably same concentration. "Bulk industrial-grade is therefore 30% to 34%, optimized for effective transport and limited product loss by HCl vapors." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydrochloric_acid You won't need to buy acid for a while

10 ML accuracy in FC test?

Weird. I have no clue how you could have gotten a 1.5ppm difference. I doubt it's FC evaporating, as you got 8ppm again after the 6.5....

Been shocking for a week, water clear, can we swim?

Once my water is clear, I generally let the chlorine come down for the day and go back to shock level only at night.

$%^&* What the heck did I do now?

Light green (not beautiful blue) means I'm gonna get algae in my pool if I don't deal with it. It looks like that right now, LOL. I'm shocking, and running my pump 24/7. Need to clean my cartridge filter too.

Cloudy water, chlorine won't hold, but water seems balanced

Re: Cloudy water, chlorine won't hold, but water seems balan I like my polaris 360. Had it for almost 10yrs now, and it's pretty good about getting all the leaves and Crud that the trees dump in my pool.

I would have to raise the FC to about 30

Yeah, that. Unless you want to drain your pool to get your CYA back to zero, which is NOT recommended :)

    New Pool for me...

I would keep it at shock level until the CC's are gone. CC's make my kids stinky like chlorine after they swim. Not good at a party, LOL.

Dead bird in the skimmer - time to superchlorinate?

Re: Dead bird in the skimmer - time to shock I'd bring it up to shock level at night and do the OCLT. If you don't lose any CL overnight, you don't have any nasties in your pool that need killing :) I run it 10 or 15 min before bleach, and the recommendation is to run the pump at least an...

    Neophyte strategy-Tri-chlor then bleach?

I do that. I just put 16 pucks in my feeder over the past two weeks. I haven't had to mess with the PH either. I just keep an eye on the CL, and use bleach if I need to bump it up more than 2ppm.

Frequency of adding acid to a pool with a water feature

I have a spa spillover, and rarely (maybe every 3 months?) add acid. TA is at 100 (although it will drop to 60 before I add baking soda once a year) PH stays between 7.4 and 7.6 without regular chemical manipulation. Sometimes the PH will jump to 7.8 and I'll bring it down to 7.4.....like every...

Is it ok to add more than drop at a time to the FAS-DPD test

Re: Is it ok to add more than drop at a time to the FAS-DPD I do the same thing :) For TA & Ch too.... I actually have perfected a swirl with my right hand while working the dropper with my left. I'm pretty proud of myself, LOL.

    BBB and chemical questions

Your water is that screwed up. I would not trust that strip AT ALL, since almost everything it read is at the lowest #. (I'm assuming TH is really calcium, CH.....right?)You should have SOME CYA, due to the fact that you've been dumping pucks in the pool for two weeks. You need to start with...
