New to this, just emptied and filled my pool with city water

figured there was another valve on the suction side...missed he said returns. OP - do you only have skimmers, or is there a drain on the bottom too?

Love TFP !! pH bounce + pool tech / necessity for trichlor tabs

the high TA is raising the pH. is there a waterfall or anything else providing high aeration? are the return jets pointed at the surface and creating a lot of turbulence? Your TA was fine before (60) and to increase the pH you should have used borax to raise the pH, which raises the pH but...

New to this, just emptied and filled my pool with city water

are you referring to the ones at the bottom right of the picture, basically in the foreground in front of the pump? its not connected to the return from the pool to the pump, right? could it be electrical to lights, etc? as far as the returns go, only real way to figure it out is to close...

    Should I drop Mineral Springs?

you dont need it, and you dont want it! you have a saltwater system, thats all you need to use. i cant believe they have you doing other stuff, oh wait, i know why :) get your salt cell dialed in and all you should need to do is possibly add a little muriatic acid every once in a while to...

dont worry about checking your CYA, it wont show up in the tests for up to a week. once its fully dissolved (you can speed it up by squeezing the bag), its in there and you base your SLAM FC values on the new CYA level (old plus whatever you added). second question, you can swim with your FC...

2nd time setting up and have plans to do much better

a cheap alternative is to build a water level. google it, easy to make a just needs some flexible tubing

2nd time setting up and have plans to do much better

i dont think you really need to waste the money on the rigid insulation. its more critical that you are absolutely flat and that there are no rocks/root that could impact the liner. For the money you would spend on the insulation, i would buy a cheap laser level from homedepot and set that up...

First time pool owner with K-2006 test results

those CC values seem way way high. what level (ml) are you filling the cylinder to? how many drops are you using to get your FC? after it turns clear, then how many drops are you adding to get your CC value? something seems off.

Out with the old in with the new!

    Pool Liner Issue

i would suggest you get a new liner, and then read up on the TFP method (pool school link at top of page). We can help save you a lot of time and money and have an always clear pool. our method resolves around having an accurate test kit (TF100 is best value), and no, pool store testing is NOT...

Uncovering pool first time in 4-5 years

wow, this one might be some fun! are you able to get the liner back into place?? you can lower the water a few inches and use near boiling water to pour on the liner to allow it to stretch a little bit. if you cant get the liner back into place, there is no point in SLAMing it to clean it...

    Pool Liner Issue

how are you chlorinating? looks like tablets in your skimmer basket and when its not running the super high chlorinated water is breaking down your liner. You also have an algae outbreak and need to SLAM. in order to do that you need to read up on pool school and get yourself a test kit

New to this, just emptied and filled my pool with city water

I would get your CH and CYA addressed asap. just go to pool math and it will tell you how much to add. i would just go for CYA of 30 for now, as the summer goes on you can always increase it as needed. i would just buy some granular stabilizer since you are at 0. you can always use the...

Soapy looking suds since opening pool due to algaecide

no need for algaecide. not sure why its sudding up, but i would think it would go away on its own. if he added 3 lbs of shock, thats boosting your CYA up. what test kit are you using?
