    CYA images

I agree that the test is best interpreted in indirect sunlight. If I had to guess based on the photos provided, I’d just call it 80 CYA. The standard solution is used in place of your pool water. Perform the test in the same way, but use the solution instead of your own pool water.

    Algae Recurrence after SLAM

Twenck, I’m in Orlando and I’ve had the exact same experience. I kept FC in range and would inevitably see a green/yellow cloud when I brushed the pool floor. It never accumulated on the sides, only the bottom. I would SLAM, pass all the criteria, and yet a week later I’m seeing green stuff on...

    Seeking advice on tree debris

The manager at Leslie’s told me to turn off the main drain and have all the suction come from the skimmer when I’m expecting heavy rains. Going to try that to see if it helps.

    Seeking advice on tree debris

Hello all! I have this problem where my pool gets cloudy after heavy rains. I have a screened in pool and three gigantic oak trees whose limbs extend over the pool. I intend to have them cut back, but the door to my fence isn't wide enough for the arborists to drive their cherry picker back...

    Raising CYA with tablets

Thank you everyone! I‘ll keep an eye on pH and TA and go back to liquid chlorine once my CYA gets to a good spot. I seem to need to add muriatic acid once a week or so, so the acidity of the tablets may be a blessing in disguise.

    Raising CYA with tablets

Current test results: FC 4 pH 7.6 TA 70 CH 375 CYA 20 CSI -0.02 Temp 76 My CYA is getting pretty low and I don’t have any on hand to add to the pool. I am limiting my trips outside the house and was wondering if it’s a bad idea to use tabs for a while to gradually raise the level up. I have...

    Crystal clear water secret?

In the Lake Mary / Sanford area. The pollen is bad enough that my water looks hazy from time to time right now, especially following a rain. Not sure if this is the same thing you are seeing with "white flakes" but after a rain I'll see some white, foamy stuff that disappears once the pump has...

    Speedstir Problem

I’ve had a speedstir since last summer and have used it daily since then. In the last month or so the bean tends to get stuck on one side of the vial and just shakes there and I have to repeatedly shake and tap the vial to get it to finally spin in the middle. Today I couldn‘t even get it to...

algae that doesn't go away no matter how high the chlorine

Hello! I’m no expert and have owned a pool for only a year now. Just tossing out an idea as I can sense it’s been a frustrating experience for you. Reading through your thread, it seems you’ve maintained some really high chlorine levels for some time. I also notice that your location is listed...
