I agree that the test is best interpreted in indirect sunlight. If I had to guess based on the photos provided, I’d just call it 80 CYA. The standard solution is used in place of your pool water. Perform the test in the same way, but use the solution instead of your own pool water.

The manager at Leslie’s told me to turn off the main drain and have all the suction come from the skimmer when I’m expecting heavy rains. Going to try that to see if it helps.

Thank you everyone! I‘ll keep an eye on pH and TA and go back to liquid chlorine once my CYA gets to a good spot. I seem to need to add muriatic acid once a week or so, so the acidity of the tablets may be a blessing in disguise.
