Robot filter basket bottom falls open

So I just purchased my first robot (Dolphin E20). It did an admirable job cleaning my pool but when I pulled out the filter basket, the bottom fell open and dumped everything out. I just figured it wasn't closed right, but upon close inspection the bottom doesn't really stay closed at all...

    Solar panels roof options

I have solar panels on my south-facing shingle roof now and I'm planning on getting a new roof. I like the idea of a standing-seam metal roof, but I'm not sure about the solar heaters. I'm having trouble getting in touch with solar contractors at the moment, so I thought I'd ask here. Is it...

New SWG and I think I added too much salt

I got my K-1766 kit yesterday and it measured 5600ppm. So, I think I'm going to go ahead and drain/refill a portion of water. Time to flood my yard... I hope it doesn't kill my bamboo hedge.

New SWG and I think I added too much salt

The manual doesn't mention a high salinity limit. There seems to only be a "low salt" indicator. It does mention salinity above 5500ppm can cause corrosion to pool fixtures though, so I think I'm getting uncomfortably close to that... No rain in the forecast... but May is usually pretty wet...

New SWG and I think I added too much salt

I'm in north Florida. Ok, I'll order a test kit. There's a Pinch-a-Penny pool store pretty close to my house, so I figured I'd let them do the tests for free. If the Edge shuts off at 4500ppm, the test results might not be right then. It's definitely producing chlorine - I've been testing...

New SWG and I think I added too much salt

I just installed a CircuPool Edge 40 SWG. Earlier this week I added 12 bags of salt, which I thought was being conservative because the pool calculator said I should be adding 14 bags... with the assumption I had 0ppm salt. I just took a sample of water to the pool store and salinity is...

    Too much salt

I'm in a similar situation and I'm wondering if you got your salt level tested yet?

Adding steps to inground vinyl pool

I'm planning on replacing my 16x32 in-ground liner some time this year. The pool doesn't have any steps and I was thinking (fantasizing) about adding steps-under-vinyl like the ones in this picture: 42" High x 20' Wide x 6" Radius Full Width Steel Step. On that same website, I came across...

I found my leak, now what?

Yeah, it was pretty gross and I just threw the clothes that I was wearing away. I didn't see as many roots growing in/around the fitting itself as I thought I'd find. There were a lot of little ones, but nothing big enough to have caused the actual damage. I have 2 guesses as to how it...

I found my leak, now what?

I just wanted to post an update on my leak. I dug all the way to the pool wall and found the inlet and sure enough it was cracked in several spots and water was gushing out. So I drained to below the returns, bought a new inlet (thanks to Amazon's over-night Sunday delivery! Nobody had it...

I found my leak, now what?

Thanks everyone for the input! Luckily the pool deck is its narrowest where the leak is (a little over 3ft), so there won't be /that/ much digging and crawling. Although getting through all the roots that have also been taking advantage of this leak will be a pain. Davin Dave - thanks for the...

I found my leak, now what?

Hi everyone! I have an inground vinyl pool with 2 return inlets on one return line. I've had a small leak for a while now and it seems be getting worse. I know the leak is in the return line because a local pool company helped me find it by pressure testing and listening with a "big ear" on...
