    Stand pipe, perhaps too short...

CYA is below 30 - still adding stabilizer a few days at a time. CH is zero. pH is 7.5 Alkalinity is 90 Did my daily chemisty maintenance yesterday. Prior to adding chloring, FC was 1.5, CC was 0.5 or less. Today prior to maintenance it was FC 0, CC 0. For my daily chlorine I am adding to ensure...

    Stand pipe, perhaps too short...

I am about lose my mind... Summary of what I have done this year. New sand. Old sand was less than 2 years old. I didn't think it was a sand problem but putting in new sand was easier than putting in old sand back into the filter. I put 250 pounds of sand into a 27 inch Millennium filter. (I...

    Stand pipe, perhaps too short...

So instead of splicing a joint in, I'm adding an inch on the bottom of the stand pipe. I'll let you know if it works!

    Stand pipe, perhaps too short...

Okay, so I have done about everything I could to try to figure out what has been causing my dirty water to leak back into the pool when I turn on the pump. I changed the spider gasket (it actually didn't need changing, but I convinced myself to try to remove the gasket not knowing it was glued...

Multiport may be broken but unsure

Anyone have any recommended torque settings when I put it back together? Last thing I want is to fix the issue caused by a gasket, and then crack the head.

Multiport may be broken but unsure

I left the pump off overnight. This morning the backwash hose, which was coiled up, was full of water, and partially under pressure, despite the pump not being run and the multiport in the filter position.

Multiport may be broken but unsure

Some background - Same stats as in signature. Pool bought and installed in 2015. 2016 I had to replace the filter because it had a crack in it. Last year I replaced the multiport as it was cracked at one of the joints (I believe it was the return). This year, everything seemed to be going...

You have been a great help Richard. Thank you. Even with two BWs I can see the bottom now. It's still hazy, but I think by tomorrow, it will be swimmable! :swim: *Fist pump*

Do I treat the rapid increase in PSI the same way I would any other increase? I used to BW when I got a 6-8 increase, but this year I switched to a 25% increase. I have put in more DE and the pressure is up 25% again. Seems like I am going to be replacing water in the pool quite a bit for the...

So I opened the filter. There was about 12 inches of head space between the sand and the top of the filter opening, so about 10 inches to the bottom of the mulitport I would say. I added 50 pounds of sand and that did not make a significant difference in 24 hours so I added DE (about 2 hours...

I think there is more than 6" of space there. I didn't actively note it when I cleaned it. I will check it tonight and if required top it up as needed. Will post on results. I did think it was VERY strange that the green plume came gushing out of the return. I winced. I felt that something was...

FC 12 CC <0.5 TA 90 CYA ~30 (haven't measured since adding CYA last weekend for a target of 40) The pool was green when opened. I started a SLAM for a few days without vacuuming or brushing because I could not see the bottom of the pool. Eventually after a few days, the green disappeared, but...

First timer Pool Opened with Stabilizer Quesion

Did a CYA level test this morning. It's below 30. This is at least part of the problem that at a minimum partly explains why we are chlorinating so much so often. Now I guess the real question is, why is my CYA dropping? Is my stabilizer ineffective?

First timer Pool Opened with Stabilizer Quesion

Performed an OCLT a few months back. I am confident we do not have an algae problem because our CC is never above .5. I haven't done another CYA test since (why don't the Kits come with more CYA reagent?) we added stabilizer at the beginning of the season. We had a CYA of 40 then.

First timer Pool Opened with Stabilizer Quesion

UPDATE: The pool has been maintained daily. Ph is on the high side lately as it continues to creep back up after adding MA. Right now it's 7.8. Alk is at 90. FC after adding chlorine today was 3.5 and CC was less than 0.5. We have removed the fountain from the return. The Ph is not my issue...
